This is not your average higher education human resources leadership role. At CampusWorks, we partner with colleges and universities to transform the way HR delivers value — and we’re looking for a proven HR executive to serve as onsite Chief Human Resources Officer and trusted consultants.
In this unique role, you’ll bring your expertise as a higher ed HR leader to:
• Elevate your impact by serving simultaneously as a CHRO and consultant.
• Lead HR transformation initiatives that improve service delivery, compliance, and employee experience.
• Design and implement HR strategies and systems that align with institutional goals and strengthen culture.
• Partner directly with senior leadership and stakeholders to drive change, engagement, and accountability.
• Stay connected to CampusWorks’ national network of experts and resources while making a lasting impact locally.
A hybrid presence may be required with frequent travel to client locations.
Responsibilities
- Serving as Interim CFO or Finance Director and providing day-to-day leadership of the finance department staff
- Conducting accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis functions while overseeing the daily financial operations of the college or university
- Advising on the development of policies, programs, and procedures governing financial and accounting operations, and preparing financial statements, forecasts, and analyses
- Provide oversight, direction, guidance, and coordination of the current finance projects and priorities
- Assessing the efficiency of the finance department
- Providing finance consulting to higher education clients on a variety of finance topics/challenges
- Assisting clients in how to best align policy, process, procedures, and personnel to effectively leverage the Finance ERP solution
Why This Role is Different
- Unlike a traditional CHRO role, this opportunity lets you:
- Expand your reach — leverage your higher education HR expertise while serving as a strategic advisor and change leader.
- Drive transformation — guide institutions through modernization of HR systems, processes, and culture.
- Balance leadership and consulting — manage day-to-day HR operations while influencing strategy at the executive level.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership with at least 5 years as the head of HR in a higher education institution.
- A proven record of transforming HR services and delivery in higher education.
- Strong knowledge of HR systems (HCM, ATS, payroll/benefits) and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Agility to navigate politically sensitive environments and shifting priorities.
- This is your chance to elevate your career — moving beyond a traditional HR leadership role to shape the future of HR in higher education while making a direct impact on the institutions we serve.
