We're looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team to enable Canary's next phase of growth. You should be a strong technical leader that can deal with ambiguity, be able to define and guide our future architecture, and mentor junior engineers. You should also care deeply about the customer experience and work closely with Product Managers to inform product decision-making. 2. Set an example as an IC in terms of both the quality and velocity of code that you ship
3. Think about overall architecture and own its evolution based on engineering and product needs
4. Understand metrics and how our customers use our products, strong voice on product decisions and prioritization
5. Independently mentor and advise engineers in a pod
6. Build engineering execution plans, breakdown and assign work to engineers in the pod
7. Run pod processes autonomously and escalate appropriately when required
8. Active in hiring and interviewing

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • 5-8+ years of a strong engineering background including being in IC engineering role

    • Strong Javascript skills
    • Solid knowledge of developing backend applications
    • Have a strong demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products
    • Self-motivated, collaborative, and diligent work ethic

    • Comfort with ambiguity and is eager to embrace ownership and accountability
    • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, MS/PhD

    • Expert in Python with knowledge on at least one industry standard framework like Django, Flask, etc.

    • Database design skills

Benefits

    • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)

We also work hard to ensure Canary is a fun and exciting place to work. How do we do this?

First off, we've added Canary Days to the calendar as company holidays to ensure that the team has time to recharge. Whether that means having an extended weekend each month or making sure there are sufficient breaks incorporated into the team's busy workweek, we want everyone to get the rest they deserve!

Second, we have a list clubs and perks listed below that create space for us to hang out:

Self Improvement Club: We meet each month and share our personal goals for the month.  We are able to expense $75 towards any purchases that helped us achieve these goals.

Fireside Chat: We meet each month to discuss a wide range of issues.  This group was started focused on women's issues and has expanded in scope over the last several months.

$50 to stay at any hotel that uses Canary Check-in

Book a trip at one of the hotels that has Canary Checkin, stay there, leave a review on TripAdvisor/Google and get a $50 reimbursement!

$500 travel reimbursement: We offer you the chance to visit our offices in New York, San Francisco or Dallas by providing a travel stipend. Spend at least three days working with the team in either hub, and use the rest of your time exploring a new city!
