Canvas is bringing automation to the construction industry. Our mission is to leverage technology to empower current trade workers to be dramatically more productive and free from repetitive, physically taxing, and dangerous tasks. Our small but growing team has spent the past two years engineering and developing a brand new type of machine and are now deploying it on commercial job sites. We need an skilled Entry-Level Robotics Engineer who is inspired by all of the challenges that come along with iterating on a game changing tool. 

As a Robotics Engineer at Canvas Construction, you will help to build the future of construction. Your role will be to take on development tasks across the spectrum of robotics. This will include design and bringup of new robots, algorithm development, process improvement, hardware and software debugging and much more. The role of Entry-Level Robotics Engineer will have visibility across all engineering units. It will provide close access to the senior members of the team and myriad opportunities for learning and growth. We are looking for someone who is eager to expand their skill set and mature existing skills to grow into a role with even more responsibility.

This role is fast moving and will require learning and growth. Candidates who apply for this role should be passionate and excited about robotics and the potential of robotics in construction.

Responsibilities

    • Bringup of new robots and implementation of processes to improve bringup
    • Algorithm development for new robotic features
    • Write clean, well tested software with documentation in Python and C++
    • Hardware and software debugging in both the lab and the field
    • Field Team and Product Operations Team support

Required Skills

    • Excited to learn and grow as an engineer
    • Interest in designing, building and debugging robotic systems
    • Software fundamentals (iteration, data structure, object oriented programming, bits and bytes)

Nice to Haves

    • Industry or project experience building and delivering production-level code
    • Hands on experience writing software to control physical systems
    • Strong linear algebra skills
    • C++ and Python in a Linux environment
    • ROS Experience
    • Organized and procedure oriented
