JOB DESCRIPTION:
With an ever-evolving IT landscape and shifting mission requirements, the work environment is challenged with keeping pace by continuing to produce new user-facing services and infrastructure capabilities to satisfy mission needs. The office is responsible for enabling Customer Facing and Data Center Services to maximize the performance and resources available to mission customers. Particularly, the users are responsible for Enterprise Requirements and Mission Integration and feeds new capabilities and prototypes to other office entities for production deployment.
 
This level of effort is designed to support the architecture, development, and sustainment of the organization’s Front Door.  The platform enables research, development, hosting and other related activities, by establishing a comprehensive foundation for managing access, security, and collaboration on top of commercial Cloud Service Provider infrastructure. 
 
The engineering team will develop and operate a central Front Door solution that will provide prospective customers access to various capabilities, platforms, tools, etc.  Front Door is anticipated to be a mix of software, people and process.
 
DIVISION of RESPONSIBILITY:
  Architecture and development of the Front Door solution
 Operation and maintenance of the Front Door solution
  Analyze new ‘Front Door’ capability requests and requirements and direct them to the appropriate platform
  Implementation and integration of the Front Door solution with other platforms
 Provide technical guidance regarding any necessary integration with fabric-specific services and applications required
  Architecture and development of certain User Service Layers
 Operation and maintenance of certain User Service Layers
 
LABOR CATEGORY QUALIFICATIONSTABLE for Infrastructure Engineer  (Level 3)
The Infrastructure Engineer implements, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse research infrastructure systems (e.g. multi-purpose hosting, virtualized environments, big data analytics, cloud environments, real-time systems, business management information systems, logging and monitoring systems, hardware, active directory, Linux/Unix – Windows – or OSx-based, storage area networks (SAN), LAN and WAN networking, and other infrastructure-related components) based upon documented requirements.  Works individually or as part of a research team.  Review and test infrastructure components for adherence to the design requirements.  Works individually or as part of a research team.  Review and test infrastructure components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.  Resolves reported system issues.  Utilizes infrastructure engineering and research design methodologies appropriate to the development / test / production environment.  Provides specific input to the component system design to include hardware / software trade-offs, system reuses, use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) / Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual system components with particular emphasis on complex networking topics. 
 
Experience in one or more of the following network topic is preferred:
·         Experience with network troubleshooting of complex issues, such as:  IPSec, VXLan, FWs, Load Balancing and DNS
·         Expertise with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and thin client architectures.
·         Experience with Security administration to include enterprise antivirus, malware detection, intrusion detection and audit solutions. 
·         Experience with Open Source tools, such as Snort
·         Experience with Cloud technologies, such as OpenStack, Hadoop, and Cloudera
·         Knowledge of Amazon Web Services platforms and solutions
 
EXPERIENCE
·      Will contribute to the development of sections of IT and telecommunications systems.
·      Perform system integration, system administration or network engineering tasks
·      Perform tasks in IT and telecommunication projects in at least one (1) of the following areas:
-    Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g.2K3, 2K8, various Linux flavors),
-    Integrating COTS/GOTS/or open-source solutions,
-    Virtualization technology experience (e.g. VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM),
-    Networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g. CISCO, Juniper)
-    Storage technologies (e.g. SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, isCSI, NFS),
-    Remote access (e.g. Juniper SSL VPN),
-    or other IT infrastructure technologies.
·      Demonstrate work delivery in areas such as IT and telecommunication systems
 
    Infrastructure Engineer, Level 3  
     CERTIFICATION:   at least 1 technical (ie: CCNA, CISSP, INCOSE, VCP, PMP, ITIL, etc…)
     EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE:  
  Ph.D Degree + 12 years, OR
  Master’s Degree + 10 years of experience, OR
  Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years of experience, OR
  No Degree + 12 years of experience.
NOTE:  Degree or higher in computer engineering or in a field related to the computer engineering or computer science disciplines.
