Be part of an amazing company that is going through explosive growth.  Carbon is a unicorn start-up that is reshaping its brand to support an unprecedented growth trajectory.  We are looking for a Head of Design & Creative who will be responsible for leading the charge on all aspects of brand design & creative of across the company. This person will be an in-house design strategist who executes and implements on the vision.  

This role is based in our Redwood City office.

Responsibilities:

    • Define Carbon’s creative design approach to bring the company’s bigger mission to life as a premium technology brand
    • Develop the overarching design strategy & approach, including the brand visual identity and expression
    • Lead the approach in new areas where design will be at the forefront of driving success, including the ingredient brand design approach, and building consumer preference with influencers through design
    • Regularly present strategies, concepts and ideas to the CMO and marketing leadership team 
    • Strong working knowledge of Design Thinking to drive meaningful outcomes and audience actions
    • Collaborate with partner customers (such as adidas and Riddell) to bring high profile campaigns to life
    • Identify & champion new opportunities for design to accelerate cultural impact in the organization
    • Responsible for the creative design direction and execution of marketing assets
    • Collaborate with communications, product marketing, experiential marketing to drive creative brand expression and partner on visual content creation
    • Create visuals and illustrations used for customer activation including social media, video, website, experiential, etc.
    • Ability to take lead on developing presentations for Executive Leaders
    • Work with the VP of Brand as the brand advocate and guardian

Requirements:

    • 8-10 years experience leading design
    • Have a keen eye for aesthetics in the emerging technology space
    • Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities, and how to quickly pivot priorities
    • Comfortable working in a high impact, high energy, fast-paced environment
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Keynote, PowerPoint
    • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
    • Degree in Design, Fine Arts, or other relevant studies
    • Travel:  up to 10%

Nice to haves:

    • Design experience in a technology sector
    • Understanding of design theory approaches
    • Understanding of 3D graphics software (e.g. Blender)
    • Good business acumen
