Embedded Engineer Internship

We are looking for bright, curious interns to work alongside our best in class engineers for Summer 2019. These full-time internships are a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic setting. You will have the opportunity to work on a collaborative team and be paired with one of our engineers who will mentor you throughout the course of the summer. Our interns work on real time, high priority projects that are shaping the future of Carbon. Come make an impact with us this summer !

Requirements and Expected Projects

    • Currently pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science and / or Hardware Curriculums
    • A strong work ethic and an eagerness to help
    • Curiosity about how things work and tenacity to learn
    • A coachable attitude and a desire to improve your skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • Willingness to work collaboratively and independently as needed
    • Evident track-record of success and creativity in your educational and life pursuits. 

    • Languages in use:
    • C++ and Python

    • Projects:

      Automate motor tests on the motor dyno.
    • Have small linux box to command dyno over serial.

    • Could have workflow of:
    • Code change -> bootload new firmware to motor -> run some unit tests on dyno by talking to motor and dyno over two serial ports.
    • Need to add some safety hardware around this if it will be run remotely.

    • Self-calibration of new light engine.
    • Scripting of light engine commands in conjunction with external instrumentation control.
    • Writing of calibration parameters into light engine eeprom
