CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys modular direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be mass-produced and connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Founded in 2019 and based in Los Angeles, CarbonCapture is one of the leaders in the rapidly emerging DAC industry, having raised over $90 million in financing and formed industrial partnerships with Amazon, Siemens, and Aramco.
 
We're looking for a highly strategic and dynamic individual to lead our project development, M&A, and competitive positioning strategies. This executive will partner closely with our CEO, VP Finance, VP Projects, investors, and external stakeholders to define, align, and drive CarbonCapture’s large-scale project development strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of project development and finance (ideally within the energy sector), a strong leadership presence, and a passion for sustainability.

Responsibilities

    • Project Development:  In partnership with the VP Finance, lead identifying, negotiating, and securing funding sources, including government grants, private equity, venture capital, and other creative financing methods
    • Strategy and Planning:  Create and manage strategic partnering and financial models to support project development, investment decisions, and funding strategies
    • Risk Management:  Assess and mitigate market, credit, and operational financial risks. Develop risk management frameworks, monitor, and report on financial performance and risk metrics throughout the project lifecycle. Proactively be in the know of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments in project financing
    • Investor and Stakeholder Relations:  Build and maintain strong relationships with project investors, banks, off-takes, and other key stakeholders. Prepare and present complex financial reports, partnering and investment proposals, and project updates to stakeholders
    • Leadership:  Being equally analytical and strategic, foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence in partnering with internal and external stakeholders, communicating and establishing relationships and trust across the company

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field. MBA or CFA preferred
    • 10+ years of experience in project development including strategic partnering, finance, and off-takes. Experience in carbon removal or renewable energy technologies highly preferred
    • Proven track record of successfully structuring and closing unique project development partnerships and managing complex financial transactions
    • Have an established network of relevant industry connections and the drive to build and maintain a strong network of strategic business relationships
    • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, investment analysis, and risk management, with a deep understanding of finance market dynamics
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
    • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire a high-performing team
    • Intellectual curiosity and creativity; entrepreneurial spirit, welcoming and thriving in ambiguous and ever-changing environments
    • Commitment to sustainability and a passion for the carbon removal and energy technology industries
$200,000 - $250,000 a year
Pay is commensurate with experience. Base: $200k - $250k + Equity
