We are looking for a highly skilled and versatile Automation & Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This person will be a member of the Product Engineering team responsible for designing the detailed electrical and control systems of Carbon Capture’s Direct Air Capture product line, developing and maintaining PLC and HMI controls, testing and validating process controls, troubleshooting sensors and instruments, and collaborating with project stakeholders. Responsibilities

    • PLC Programming: Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs for automation and control systems
    • HMI Development: Create intuitive and user-friendly Human-Machine Interfaces to monitor and control machinery
    • Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate to seamlessly integrate software and hardware components in automation systems
    • Commissioning: Lead or assist in the commissioning of automation systems, ensuring functionality and reliability
    • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operations
    • Version Control: Utilize version control tools to manage code changes and ensure a structured development process
    • Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation for projects

Requirements

    • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering, or related field
    • 5+ years of experience in a professional engineering environment
    • Demonstrated proficiency with PLCs or embedded/mechatronic systems, Twincat/Beckhoff environment preferred
    • Experience with SCADA, MES, Historians, Real-Time Monitoring and/or Multi-Server/Multi-Client systems, and Inductive Automation solutions
    • Familiarity with DevOps principles and version control tools such as GIT, SVN, or BITBUCKET
    • Strong understanding of design patterns and their use cases
    • Comfortable developing software for desktop or cloud applications targeting Windows and/or Linux
    • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple development languages including IEC61131-3 standard, ST preferably while adopting OOP principles
    • Knowledge of IT and networking principles such as IPV4, IPV6, managed switches, VLANs, RDP, and VM configuration
    • Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, OPC UA, MQTT, ADS, Modbus, ProfNet, etc.) 
    • Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and test electrical components using a multimeter
    • Ability to assist in wire harnessing and machine commissioning
    • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting project goals and deadlines
    • Adherence to safety practices and an understanding of industry-specific safety standards

$110,000 - $130,000 a year
Pay is commensurate with experience (base: $110k - $130k + equity)
