Interested in working with a groundbreaking company that’s focused on decarbonizing the atmosphere? CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With a patented modular open systems architecture, our DAC platform allows for plug-and-play upgrades, mass production, unlimited scalability, and rapid technology iterations.

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior CFD Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary Systems team. In this role, you will support sophisticated analyses in the design of Direct Air Capture technologies using CFD tools. You will tackle problems including, but not limited to, heat transfer, airflow, process modeling, and thermal systems design.

Responsibilities

    • Create analytical models ranging from hand calculations to detailed CFD analyses to support the design of Direct Air Capture systems.
    • Prepare presentations and reports to effectively communicate findings to the broader team.
    • Utilize and iterate on models to recommend and validate improvements to system designs.
    • Support the Engineering and Projects team to identify potential issues in current designs, conduct root cause analysis, and provide technical proposals and solutions to resolve engineering problems.
    • Define, analyze, and support execution of tests on prototypes to characterize the system and verify model-based analysis.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
    • 7+ years relevant professional experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and general engineering principles.
    • 4+ years experience using CFD tools such as Ansys Fluent and COMSOL.
    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and integrate CFD analysis with other engineering disciplines.
    • Understanding of fundamentals of adsorption/desorption.

Desired Background

    • Experience in programming languages such as Python.
    • Expert understanding of finite volume concepts in adequate meshing resolution, solution accuracy, convergence, boundary condition setup, transient modeling, and turbulence model selection.
    • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
    • Prior experience in DAC technologies or related fields such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is a benefit.
$130,000 - $150,000 a year
The hiring range displayed above is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, CarbonCapture Inc. considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job-related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training.
