The Opportunity

Position Summary: We are seeking a Master’s in Nursing individual interested and knowledgeable in the world of rehabilitation, geriatrics, and/or orthopedics. The Sr. Nursing Practice Lead- Subacute (NPL) promotes excellence in nursing with advanced knowledge within - clinical care, systems leadership, and advancement of nursing practice, evaluation and research. The NPL opportunity will support complex client situations and trends, leading clinical guidelines and protocols development and implementation, identifying opportunities to increase nursing practice based on best evidence, clinical team consultation while collaborating with appropriate stakeholders both internal and external to Carewest on system change with following through with planning, implementation and evaluation of initiatives.

Shift Times: 0800-1615
Union: Non Union Professional
Rate of Pay: $ 44.13 - $ 57.63

Qualifications & Experience

    • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse education program
    • Completion of a Masters in Nursing
    • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
    • Minimum 3 years of full time clinical experience in the last 5 years in acute care, focusing on geriatrics, orthopedics or rehabilitation
    • Demonstrated ability to engage and build collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, patients and families, leaders, learners and external partners and facilitate group processes
    • Knowledge of health care organizations and current trends to provide a whole systems approach
    • Knowledge of wide range of research design methodologies
    • Knowledge of program evaluation approaches and outcomes measurements
    • Demonstrated clinical leadership and understanding of nursing practice
    • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to recognize complex problems and seek solutions
    • Teaching skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult learning principles
    • Computer literacy skills essential e.g. MS Office Suite, Connect Care

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

    • Project management and change management knowledge and experience an asset.
    • Demonstrated ability in planning, implementing and leading change from an evidence-based perspective.
    • Central Venous Catheter certification. PROSCI Change Management certificate.
    • Change management modules.
    • Alberta Health Services Improvement Way (AIW) Green Belt certification.
    • Specialty Canadian Nursing certification such as: Canadian Gerontological Nursing certificate (GPNC(C)), Canadian Medical-Surgical nursing certificate (CMSN(C)), Canadian Psychiatric and Mental Health (CPMHN(C)), Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOCC(C))
$44.13 - $57.63 an hour
