Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this position is responsible for the development, promotion and administration of workplace safety strategies, programs and services and to contribute expertise towards ensuring a healthy, safe and respectful work environment for Carewest. This position is also responsible for providing management oversight and direction to the Employee Health & Safety team of Occupational Health Nurses and Claims Coordinators to integrate and implement health and safety programs and services across Carewest.
Duties also include representation on a variety of corporate committees including Emergency Preparedness, Quality and Risk Management initiatives, and Safety Strategies Committee. This position will provide safety expertise for all Alberta OHS legislated requirements and will advise senior leadership, managers and employees in all related areas.
Qualifications & Experience
- A related university degree plus professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent
- Current and relevant post-degree education or designations related to Health, Safety & Environment or Leadership & Change preferred
- Minimum 5 years relevant workplace safety experience required, preferably in healthcare
- 3+ years experience in a leadership/managerial capacity preferred
- Vehicle & valid drivers license required
- Equivalencies of education, designation, and experience may be considered
