The Opportunity

Reporting to the Client Service Manager, this position, as part of the interdisciplinary team is responsible for completing comprehensive client assessments considering both client safety and nutritional needs. Key responsibilities include; using comprehensive clinical assessment skill and standard screening/assessment tools to determine appropriate texture and/or therapeutic diet to meet client needs and nutritional requirements. This position develops client care plans that incorporate input from interdisciplinary team members, the client and current clinical knowledge and best practices. In keeping with Carewest policies and practices and Professional College of standards practices, this position is responsible for documenting and maintaining all aspects of nutritional care in a timely and accurate manner. Responsible for other related duties as required.


As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various Carewest locations to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients in facilities or community settings. In this role you are an integrally part of the Food Service Team that works collaboratively with the Food Service Manager and other Team Members in the Department.  The RD is responsible to work with MealSuite; the Diet Software program at Carewest to ensure the clients and residents dietary information is maintained and updated on a regularly basis.  

This position will require travel to all Carewest Sites providing RD coverage for clients and residents.

Rate of Pay: $ 39.48 - $ 52.50

Qualifications & Experience:

    •  Graduation from a recognized degree program in Foods and Nutrition;
    • Completion of recognized internship program
    • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta required; Registration with Dietitians of Canada an asset
    • Experience as a Clinical Dietitian in a clinical and/or continuing care setting is required.
    • Experience working with the following programs: Filemaker, MealSuite and Epic is required.
    • Understand and worked with the AHS diet guidelines
