Cartography Biosciences is a therapeutics organization creating the first atlas to identify targets that are specific enough to only engage cancerous cells, broad enough to work across cancer cells and patients, and safe enough to sidestep toxic side effects. Founded by Kevin Parker, Howard Chang, and Ansu Satpathy, Cartography is bridging immunology and computation to understand the critical differences between normal and cancerous cells, ultimately solving the challenge of finding the safest, most selective targets for a variety of immunotherapeutic approaches. 

Our Immunology team is seeking an experienced and driven Scientist or Sr. Scientist to help build and advance our cell therapy platform capabilities. Reporting to our VP of Immunology, you will be responsible for supporting preclinical in vivo pharmacology and translational sciences within our Immunology team.  

Our ideal candidate will have experience working across teams to design and conduct crucial in vivo studies and communicate experimental data to support the progress of internal collaborative research programs. This position is in a highly collaborative, innovative and rapidly evolving environment and interfaces with multiple teams and functions across the organization. 

What You'll Do:

    • Support the Immunology team by developing and utilizing in vivo tumor xenograft models for discovery and IND-enabling studies for CAR-T therapy. Model development to support MOA and TME discovery science, as well as pharmacology efforts to advance projects, as required
    • Be responsible for protocol writing, animal handling and restraint, administration via various routes, in-life measurements, clinical observations, sample collection and processing, as well as accurate data collection
    • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present data across functional areas within our organization
    • Design and perform rodent dosing studies, in vivo candidate selection, blood and tissue sampling, flow-cytometry-based PK analysis, surgeries, and isolation of tumor-infiltrating CAR-T cells for MOA, as required
    • Support product development and regulatory filings for pivotal clinical studies
    • Oversee studies and/or operations performed at contract research organizations (CROs), as needed

About You:

    • Ph.D. in Oncology, Immunology, Biotechnology or related field, with 0-2 years relevant experience, or Master’s with 5+ years experience, or Bachelor’s with 7 + years experience
    • Strong background in tumor biology, immunology and in vivo tumor model development, including human xenograft models and development of novel models to solve MOA
    • Extensive hands-on experience with all aspects of running tumor models
    • Experience working with various tumor models to demonstrate mechanisms of action, including tumor growth curves, flow-cytometry and RNA endpoints
    • Experience working with immune-oncology antibody or cancer adoptive cell therapy is highly desired
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
    • Must have excellent troubleshooting, organization, and planning skills, and the ability to work under timeline in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
