Cartography Biosciences is a therapeutics organization creating the first atlas to identify targets that are specific enough to only engage cancerous cells, broad enough to work across cancer cells and patients, and safe enough to sidestep toxic side effects. Founded by Kevin Parker, Howard Chang, and Ansu Satpathy, Cartography is bridging immunology and computation to understand the critical differences between normal and cancerous cells, ultimately solving the challenge of finding the safest, most selective targets for a variety of immunotherapeutic approaches. 

Our Discovery Histology team is seeking an enthusiastic Research Associate or Sr. Research Associate to help build and advance our targets and immunotherapy product validation efforts utilizing immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and in situ hybridization. The position will report to our Histology Manager and be responsible for carrying out complex experiments independently to generate convincing histological data for novel targets, biologics and immunotherapy products in our development pipeline.

What You'll Do:

    • Execute complex experiments independently with scientific rationale
    • Generate, maintain and review electronic lab notebook reports and SOPs
    • Research and understand the scientific backgrounds of novel targets, biologics, and immunotherapy products focusing on expression.
    • Be responsible for the completion of experiments and assignments that can have an impact on functional goals
    • Communicate and present data at various company settings
    • Support team efforts to move company goals forward

About You:

    • Experienced in Histology and possess a general understanding of chemistry, microscopy, molecular biology, immunology, oncology or related field with relevant experience 
    • Experienced in tissue embedding and tissue processing to generate OCT blocks and FFPE blocks, FFPE tissue sectioning on microtome and OCT block sectioning on cryostat
    • Experienced following SOPs and record keeping via electronic notebooks
    • Willing to learn new technologies in fast past laboratory settings
    • Perform safe laboratory practices to effectively carry out experiments while maintaining safety as the highest priority
