Role Overview: 
The Independent Supply Manager will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of our independent suppliers, building strong relationships and working closely with the Corporate Supply team to ensure CarTrawler has the appropriate supply base that meets both current and future demand. 
 
We are looking for a motivated individual who thrives on responsibility and brings a proactive, can-do approach to managing multiple and, at times, competing priorities—while maintaining momentum across all initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand market dynamics, identify opportunities, and make decisions that support both supplier success and CarTrawler’s strategic goals. 

Reporting to:   Senior Supply Team Manager 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Build and leverage strong supplier partnerships to drive commercial performance, improve supply quality, and unlock long-term growth opportunities.
    • Strengthen and deepen supplier partnerships by representing CarTrawler at tradeshows, conferences, and strategic in-person meetings, fostering collaboration and alignment on shared goals.
    • Support independent suppliers by helping them make effective supply and pricing decisions to maximise revenue and profitability for both the supplier and CarTrawler.
    • Account manage the Independent Supply inbox, taking overall responsibility for all aspects of each supplier’s brand and content—including financing, reservations, and customer service.

    • Commercial Growth & Supplier Optimisation:
    • Demonstrate strong commercial awareness in all supplier interactions, identifying opportunities to enhance revenue and profitability for both the supplier and CarTrawler.
    • Proactively contribute innovative ideas and approaches to improve commercial outcomes, including supply optimisation, pricing strategies, and promotional opportunities.
    • Ensure our rates and supply content are, at a minimum, on par with competitors and support a market-leading customer proposition.
    • Work closely with the Car Supply team to negotiate optimal annual rebate structures and explore incremental commercial opportunities.
    • Ensure optimal availability and competitive rates are maintained across the independent supplier base at all times.
    • Help drive an improved customer experience by providing suppliers with actionable insights that elevate their performance.

    • Project Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Lead and contribute to key projects across the Supply Team and broader CarTrawler business, driving the development and implementation of best practices.
    • Manage and coordinate the Supply Team’s project priority list, ensuring effective communication of progress and feedback to stakeholders.
    • Actively support Supply Ecosystem working groups by contributing external market insights and best practices to promote continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including CDQ, to ensure accurate, high-quality supplier content is consistently maintained.
    • Provide flexible team support across regions during periods of absence and work cross-functionally to ensure the supplier voice is represented in key business decisions.

Critical Interfaces:

    • Customer– two-way stream of communication to ensure supplier brand is maintaining high quality standards
    • Supply Operations and Product – open line of communication regarding supplier CDQ work, supplier product innovation and supplier reporting/analytics
    • Insurance Team – to work closely on the potential of engaging suppliers on supplier insurance and insurance claims.
    • Revenue Team – regular liaison with the Revenue function to ensure partner/customer product needs are being serviced and anticipated
    • Partnerships Team - open line of communication regarding supplier performance on our partner base
    • Finance Team – liaise with the Finance team to solve for and close out any finance discrepancy issues that may arise with the car rental suppliers

Knowledge & Experience:

    • 3+ years relevant experience in a similar account management role, ideally within an industry where strategic supplier or client partnerships are critical to business success. Experience in travel/car rental sector is preferred but not essential.
    • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop trust-based, long-term partnerships with key stakeholders. Proven experience in a commercially focused role, where driving revenue growth and optimising partner performance were key responsibilities.
    • Highly self-directed and motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Demonstrates a proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously balancing urgency with importance to ensure steady progress across all work streams
    • Actively contributes innovative ideas & supports knowledge sharing to improve processes, commercial outcomes and supplier relationships.
    • Collaborative team player with an ability to work effectively with various teams across the organisation.
    • Strong analytical mindset and high level of numeracy, with the ability to interpret data, extract insights, and translate them into actionable plans that support supplier success and enhance the customer experience
    • Experience in data analysis, either through professional experience or - academic studies.
    • Confident and effective negotiator with the ability to secure mutually beneficial commercial agreements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple manner to a variety of different stakeholders.
