The Controller assists the CFO with all financial affairs of Caruso.  This role provides financial analysis and assists in strategic planning.  The Controller is responsible for directing the overall financial planning, budgeting, accounting practices, and accurately representing and keeping records on the financial condition of the company. 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

    • Recommends to management major financial strategies and objectives
    • Provides management with timely reviews of company’s financial status and progress in its various activities.
    • Prepares a monthly financial statement
    • Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis
    • Develops and prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations
    • Creates cash flow forecasting and establishes Working Capital metrics across the organization
    • Conveys the financial condition of each department to the department manager (Daily Operating Report)
    • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
    • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
    • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
    • Ensures proper internal controls are in place
    • Maintains good working relationship with banks and other financial institutions
    • Previous experience in developing a banking strategy – from RFI to RFP for Transaction Banking needs all the way to implementation of new solutions
    • Continuously looks outside for opportunities to introduce new innovative Fintech company to drive finance efficiencies
    • Leads annual external audit and ensures all requirements are met
    • Maintains effective employee relations & promotes and maintains dynamic working environment
    • Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
    • Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making the right investments
    • Leads the annual budget preparation
    • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans
    • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
    • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

Physical demands and work environment:

    • Good vision, hearing, clear speech
    • Able to work at a computer 8 hours per day. Able to stand 8 hours per day
    • Able to lift 5 – 10 pound boxes and/or files
    • Equipment used: Computer and telephone.

Qualifications required:

    • 6+ years of experience has as controller
    • CPA welcomes but not mandatory
    • Industry experience is desirable, however welcome other industries such as Technology or Retail
    • In-depth knowledge of the entire finance function
    • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
    • Must have strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, management, and customers
    • Ability to be analytical, problem solve and run multiple projects
    • Self-motivated, goal-oriented and enthusiastic presence in a team environment with the ability to lead teams/people and influence
    • Professional appearance and work ethic
    • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office
    • Ability to review processes and implement improvements across the finance spectrum
    • Worked with or being involved with the implementation of ERP or TWS
