Position Overview 
The Business Data Specialist will partner and work closely with our Business Operations Lead to support various business reporting and data analytics projects that drive critical decisions across our business. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and enjoys executing deliverables with high attention to detail. 

The successful candidate should ideally have experience working with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or a relevant spreadsheet framework and is proficient with spreadsheet functionality. Knowledge of CRM’s, Research Management, or Portfolio Management software would be preferred to better understand the business decisions that are being made from this information.  The role requires someone to thrive in a fast-paced environment and who enjoys taking a resourceful and self-starter approach to their work.  There is a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow in this role; a candidate that strives for success will enjoy the challenge. Note that this person does not have to be based out of our NYC office and work normal business hours as long as they are generally available and accountable.

Responsibilities

    • Perform data entry and data oversight to keep our CRM (Dynamo) up to date to ensure that all contact information and notes are accurate and clearly documented.
    • Reconcile all meeting notes in our Research Management system (Mackey) to confirm that all conducted research meetings are documented with pertinent information in a time-sensitive manner.
    • Assists with the facilitation of our Private Portfolio Management system (Cobalt) by monitoring and assisting with data accuracy for all relevant fields (e.g., processing updated capitalization table data, monitoring portfolio company profile accuracy, and assisting in the maintenance of portfolio company profiles).
    • Supports the reporting effort for tracking a variety of business efforts (e.g., tracking marketing pipeline data, expert network usage, vendor management, etc.).
    • Thinks creatively on reporting that the firm is not leveraging to have greater oversight of the business.
    • Assists with ad hoc projects and new vendor implementations (examples include digital business cards, expense management systems, and vendor changes).

Requirements/Qualifications

    • 2+ years of work experience in a fast-paced corporate environment. Previous experience working in Financial services or a related field to understand and interpret financial statements is preferred.
    • Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree. 
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (e.g., capable of doing V-lookup) and comfortable with spreadsheets, working independently with a detailed oriented approach.
    • Enjoys data analysis and operating as a utility player on various ad-hoc projects such as new system implementations, data cleanup initiatives, and reporting.
    • Ability to quickly learn new systems to support data analytics & operations efforts across the business.
    • Excellent listening skills, can take direction clearly and pays high attention to detail.
    • Enjoys working independently, learning new systems,  and isn’t afraid to ask questions to clarify project needs or requirements.
The minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is $75,000 to $110,000. Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, past performance, education, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, and successful candidates are eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus.
