Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting & Consolidations the Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for the company’s activities, including the integrity of information and the efficient management of accounts, reporting and data management, streamlining processes, the development of internal controls policies, ERP improvements, controls, and procedures.

The Manager, Financial Reporting ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timely completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities; whilst keeping in touch with the industry’s best practices.

The Manager, Financial Reporting, also, recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in the department's efficiency and services performed.

❗Please note, that this role is hybrid. The successful candidate will be working from the office 3 days a week - Tue/Wed/Th. The head office is located at 351 King St E.

What you will be doing:

    • Oversee month-end close duties including review and approval of journal entries and supporting schedules 
    • Collaborate closely with subsidiaries, as required, to ensure timely and consistent financial reporting for both the consolidated financials and legal entity reporting
    • Partner with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the year-end audit and reviews of the financial documents
    • Provide audit support including data requests & analysis related to annual external audits and other ad hoc audits
    • Play a key role in developing and maintaining accounting policies and internal controls
    • Lead the financial reporting projects, such as the implementation of changes in accounting standards
    • Participate in the acquisition accounting process to ensure ledger accounts are updated correctly to reflect the appropriate entries for financial reporting and audit
    • Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to develop, recommend and implement procedural and system changes to increase accuracy and efficiencies
    • Review financial and accounting records for errors, omissions, or inconsistencies and correct as required
    • Research technical and financial transactions, review and investigate financial and accounting records and resolve issues according to policies and/or best practices and recommend solutions
    • Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability
    • Play a key role in the system and process implementation projects as and when required

Process Improvements

    • Ability to identify inefficiencies in the process before they snowball
    • Improve the data reporting and accuracy of records over time
    • Responsible for looking at continuous process improvements within the overall accounting function

Critical skills to succeed in this role:

    • Good understanding of full-cycle accounting and how the different accounting functions fit into the overall business and finance process
    • Must be experienced in working with large volumes of data and very unorganized working papers and possess the ability to summarise, analyze, and present information in a very concise and presentable format
    • Must be able to reconcile all Ledger accounts, especially challenging accounts that have not been reconciled for a considerable period
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to compose routine correspondence
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels and effectively, with internal and external customers
    • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure the accuracy of deliverables
    • Advance excel with great, excellent presentation skills
    • Must be experienced in processing transactions in multiple currencies
    • A motivated, self-starter capable of owning and driving assignments to completion with minimal supervision
    • Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
    • Capable of contributing to a positive team environment with teamwork and open communication
    • Hands-on team player who is motivated to support the group in meeting deadlines
    • Must be proactive, with the ability to meet and surpass project deadlines
    • An ability to prioritize your workload and flexible/adaptable nature that will thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Possess exceptional analytical reasoning skills to think problems through, thoroughly and generate solutions

Hard requirements:

    • Canadian CPA is a hard requirement
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related discipline
    • Professional accounting qualifications such as CA, ACCA, etc. are strong assets
    • 6+ years of experience in a similar level or role within accounting/finance
    • Expert-level knowledge of Excel
    • Good knowledge of G-Suite
    • Experience in working with multiple legal entities
    • Experience with audit and financial reporting requirements

Soft requirements:

    • Exposure to integrating subsidiaries and financial statement consolidation, an asset
    • Public accounting firm experience, an asset
    • Previous Experience in SaaS and/or recurring revenue Industry
    • Experience with Great Plains Financials and/or Netsuite would be an asset
    • Experience with the Google Suite of Tools for Work (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.)
