Your Mission: 
The Systems/Network Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and modernizing CASL’sIT infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable systems across the organization. This role supports staff by implementing cloud solutions, enhancing cybersecurity and compliance (including HIPAA), and providing Tier 2–3 technical support. This role ensures CASL’s technology operations are secure and effective, enabling staff to deliver services with confidence.

What You’ll Impact 
 As a Systems/Network Engineer, you will ensure CASL’s technology environment is secure, reliable, and modern, empowering staff to serve clients effectively. Your expertise will strengthen compliance, streamline operations, and provide staff with the tools and support they need to focus on CASL’s mission. 

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Modernization & Cloud Projects (Year 1 Focus, with ongoing responsibilities)

    • Deploy and configure Microsoft Intune for enterprise endpoint management, including device policies, application deployment, and compliance monitoring to support HIPAA compliance with secure device management. 
    • Lead the migration of Active Directory to Azure AD (hybrid or cloud-native) to streamline identity and access management. 
    • Configure and manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft 365 security tools, working in collaboration with IT leadership for advanced cybersecurity oversight. 
    • Implement SharePoint Online permissions structure, including CASL Staff group setup, external user management, and departmental access controls to improve adoption and reduce access issues. 
    • Evaluate and configure HIPAA-compliant settings across Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and related services to ensure full regulatory compliance. 

Operations & Support:

    • Serve as Tier 2/3 escalation point for IT issues, providing advanced troubleshooting for networking, cloud services, and endpoint systems. 
    • Manage and maintain CASL’s core IT systems, including servers (on-prem and cloud), networks, and business applications. 
    • Monitor system performance, proactively identifying risks, gaps, or opportunities for optimization to reduce downtime and enhance efficiency. 
    • Work with vendors to support specialized applications, infrastructure, and integrations. 

Security & Compliance:

    • Implement and enforce security baselines and compliance policies, including MFA, data loss prevention, and device encryption. 
    • Maintain documentation for all configurations, processes, and compliance-related controls to support audits and ongoing operations. 
    • Proactively monitor for vulnerabilities and ensure timely remediation to maintain a secure, compliant environment. 

Collaboration & Strategy:

    • Partner with the Senior Director of IT to execute the annual IT roadmap, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. 
    • Provide technical expertise and input to flag architectural gaps and recommend improvements to CASL’s IT infrastructure. 
    • Deliver one monthly training session for end-users on MFA, SharePoint usage, and security best practices. 
    • Provide onboarding guidance for new hires on IT tools, systems access, and security expectations. 
    • Support IT leadership in phishing simulations and awareness campaigns, reinforcing staff engagement in security practices. 
    • What You Bring  - To thrive in this role, you should have: 

Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent work experience considered. 
    • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in systems, network, or infrastructure engineering. 
    • Hands-on experience with: 
    • Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (hybrid and cloud). 
    • Endpoint management (Intune). 
    • Networking (LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, routing, switching). 
    • Windows Server administration. 
    • Experience supporting security and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, or similar) preferred. 

Skills & Knowledge: 

    • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and cybersecurity practices, including endpoint detection, MFA, and encryption. 
    • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across systems, networks, and cloud environments. 
    • Strong documentation skills and attention to compliance requirements. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to train and support non-technical staff. 

Bonus Points For:

    • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance or other regulated environments preferred.  
    • Experience with Microsoft Defender and other enterprise security tools a plus.  
    • Prior experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or regulated environments a plus. 

Physical Demands:

    • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. for equipment setup. 

Environment and Scheduling:

    • Standard business hours, Monday through Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm), with flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary. 
    • May require occasional evening/weekend availability for system maintenance or urgent troubleshooting 
$72,600 - $89,700 a year
Compensation & Benefits: 
This position offers a salary range of $72,600 - $89,700 annually, reflective of experience and qualifications.
