Job Summary:
The Director of Compliance – Lending, Origination & Servicing will build and lead the regulatory compliance strategy for consumer and commercial lending operations, including loan origination, servicing, and related functions. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, and others. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience from both the industry and the regulatory side, offering strategic leadership to guide CCMR3 through a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
The Director will serve as a key liaison to external regulatory bodies (e.g., CFPB, OCC, state regulators), oversee audits and examinations, and work cross-functionally with Operations, Education, IT, Finance, and senior leadership to ensure compliance is integrated throughout the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of an enterprise-wide compliance program focused on lending, origination, and loan servicing.
- Interpret and operationalize federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- Truth in Lending Act (TILA)
- Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
- Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA/Reg B)
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
- Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP)
- Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
- State licensing and servicing laws
- Serve as a primary compliance advisor to leadership and provide strategic guidance on emerging risks and regulatory changes.
- Act as a point of contact for federal and state examinations, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
- Oversee internal testing and monitoring programs to assess compliance with lending and servicing requirements, report findings and drive remediation.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, Education, and Finance to assess and address compliance implications for new products, system changes, and third-party vendor relationships.
- Direct a compliance team in maintaining robust policy documentation, education programs, and internal controls across all lending functions.
- Partner with all departments to ensure frontline and back-office staff are educated on current requirements and expectations.
- Establish a proactive and transparent compliance culture grounded in ethics, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to executive management on compliance health and regulatory risks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD, MBA, or industry certifications (e.g., CRCM, CCEP) strongly preferred, especially if coupled with experience in a fast-growth or first-time lending environment.
- 7–10+ years of experience in compliance within the financial services sector, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role focused on lending, origination, or servicing.
- Direct experience liaising with or working at a regulatory agency (e.g., CFPB, OCC, FDIC) with insight into exam expectations and regulatory trends.
- Expert knowledge of lending regulations, servicing standards, and consumer protection laws across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven success leading compliance readiness for regulatory exams and implementing remediation plans.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; able to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear operational guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional initiatives.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities and growth objectives.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
- A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and ethical responsibility.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Experience scaling compliance programs during periods of growth, change, or M&A activity.
- Experience working with executive stakeholders in private equity or founder-led environments
- Familiarity with regulatory technology platforms (e.g., GRC tools, compliance management systems).
- Experience implementing compliance automation or technology-driven solutions to improve monitoring, reporting, or workflow efficiencies
