Position Title: Biostatistician II (Summer Position)
Location: Hybrid – part-time onsite in Carson City, NV and part-time remote
Position End Date: 6/1/2025 – 8/31/2025 
Salary: $25.88/HR plus benefits (Non-exempt)


Overview: 


The CDC Foundation is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic public health Biostatistician II for the summer to support the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This position will offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applying biostatistics and data visualization techniques to real-world public health challenges. You will work on projects that help analyze public health data, contribute to data-driven decisions, and enhance health programs across Nevada. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to deepen their understanding of biostatistics and public health while contributing to meaningful projects that improve population health outcomes.


Qualifications:

•Basic proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA, SPSS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is preferred.
•Strong understanding of statistical methods and public health principles.
•Ability to analyze and present data clearly and effectively.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Enthusiasm for public health research and data-driven decision-making.
•Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.


Education:

Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.


Responsibilities:

•Assist in designing studies and performing statistical analyses on state-level public health data.
•Contribute to the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and visual reports, presenting data and trends to support public health decision-making.
•Support data cleaning, modeling, and other statistical analyses on a variety of public health datasets.
•Collaborate with Nevada DHHS teams to produce clear and impactful visualizations that effectively communicate public health trends and outcomes.
•Participate in special projects as assigned, gaining experience in different areas of public health and biostatistics.
•Work with large datasets from health surveillance systems and public health registries, developing insights that can be used to inform health programs and policies.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and New Jersey Department of Health, in order best support the State of New Jersey in their public health programming.   
   
This position is hybrid – part-time onsite in Carson City, NV and part-time remote. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
