Position Summary

We are seeking a Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll operations and assist the accounting team in maintaining accurate books and records in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures. This person will lead all payroll functions and transactions, managing employee expense reports and disbursements, while supporting accounting with various month-end and quarter-end tasks.

This is a multidisciplinary role & this individual will further interface across many parts of the company to process payroll and perform general accounting functions. This is a hands-on position.

Responsibilities

    • Manage the preparation and reconciliation of the Company’s multi-state payroll, including off-cycle payrolls as required, ensure accurate and timely payment for all exempt and non-exempt employees
    • Review and approve international payroll by coordinating with 3rd party payroll providers in APAC and EMEA
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of payroll and bank transactions to the G/L, including month-end and quarter-end payroll and benefits accruals
    • Analyze the accuracy of final payroll in the G/L and related balance sheet accounts and report out monthly on the accuracy of the results and explain any large or unusual fluctuation
    • Prepare reconciliations monthly for all payroll related accounts
    • Main contact for all payroll accounting related matters for the auditors, including accurate and timely preparation of explanations for all audit related requests
    • Collaborate with the Human Resources, Legal, Accounting, Finance and business units on general payroll accounting matters with cross functional impact
    • Maintain and update payroll changes in ADP as communicated by Human Resources
    • Review timecard data of non-exempt employees for accuracy and completeness, including obtaining supervisor approvals
    • Verify employee paid time-off balances, holidays and work status for accuracy
    • Host training sessions as required for non-exempt new hires in reporting time and timekeeping processes
    • Weekly processing of employee expense reports including audit review and payment processing
    • Host semi-monthly training sessions for all new hires to educate employees of Cellares’ Travel & Expense Policy and train employees on how to submit expense reports, including expense report guidelines and best practices

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years of relevant work experience in payroll or accounting
    • Solid payroll accounting, reconciliation and accounting process knowledge including comfort with multi- state environments
    • Acute attention to detail, integrity and confidentiality
    • Strong Excel experience is required
    • Self-motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and in timely manner
    • Strong analytical, research, problem solving and evaluative thinking skills
    • Collaborative approach – can effectively lead a project or participate as an effective team member as well as work cross-functionally with other organizations
    • Self-awareness, authenticity, and a growth/entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to improve processes
    • Experience with SAP preferred
    • Experience with ADP preferred
    • Experience or involvement with a payroll system implementation desired
Annual Salary Range: $80,000 - $160,000
