Celo is an open platform that makes financial tools accessible to anyone with a mobile phone. Our mission at C Labs is to help build a monetary system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all.

Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment. Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, Celo makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility. Anyone can participate in the network and earn Celo currency, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launching on our platform is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets.

Do you want to help build products for financial inclusion utilizing the power of blockchain technology? Apply to be a Celo Fellow.

In the spirit of decentralization, we established a fellowship to allow people to participate in the Celo ecosystem from any location and for a flexible amount of time. We’re looking for passionate individuals around the world who are excited by our mission to build a monetary system to create conditions of prosperity for all.

With the freedom to propose any idea, some resources, and the support of the Celo team, what could you create?

Fellows submit a project proposal, outlining the project scope, deliverables, structure, and resources needed. Stipends are provided and typically range from $500 to $10,000, in some cases more depending on timing, region, and scope of the project.

We’ll review proposal on an ongoing basis and respond to all proposals within 30 days.

Please email fellowship@celo.org with any questions.

Your proposal should include:

    • A paragraph about you, including area(s) of expertise and your interest in what Celo is building
    • Project scope
    • Project duration
    • Deliverables
    • Any team members / contributors (if relevant)
    • Location
    • How you’ll structure your time
    • Resources needed (including any budget)
