Role Summary
Cerevel Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, collaborative, and integrative thinker for an important role in driving Cerevel’s market access strategies. The Senior Director, Market Access, Pricing & Contracting is accountable for Cerevel’s overarching market access strategy, and tactical plans. This role is global, with responsibility for both US & ex-US pricing and is a critical part of building a clear and comprehensive understanding of the global pricing and contracting landscape from a strategic and operational perspective. This role is also responsible for demonstrating ongoing strategic leadership across the organization to profile the payor landscape, develop and execute payor research, develop strategies to achieve overall access goals of our medicines and create payor messaging that enhances and evolves the value of Cerevel’s therapies across global and U.S. payors (public and private) in all US segments (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and Federal Programs including VA/DoD) where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the representation of the payer perspective in product development plans for pipeline assets and brand plans in late-stage assets to optimize future access for patients, including identifying payer needs (unmet medical need, suitable comparators, and competitive space), and analyzing, understanding, and articulating gaps between payer expectations and target product profile
- Leads the analysis and development of pricing strategies across all assets and functions to ensure an integrated approach to payer customers that delivers optimal access for patients to the Cerevel portfolio, including ensuring an efficient cross-functional communication and feedback process
- Provides strategic pricing guidance for all of the assets in anticipation of / response to trends in the therapeutic space including new competitors, new data from existing competitors, strategic changes by competitors and changing policy regulations in key markets
- Develops and maintains high-performing operational pricing processes and champions innovative approaches that inform strategic pricing and access decisions for Cerevel’s portfolio
- Provides operational and pricing analytical oversight, including:
- Conducts international reference pricing assessments to identify pricing risks and model the optimal launch sequence
- Develops pricing tools strategic pricing decisions
- Maintains pricing database to capture the global list and net price evolution of key pipeline assets
- Provides pricing input to key planning processes, e.g. at development milestones of targets
- Coordinates and reviews pricing business cases with leadership
- Establish insightful payer, clinic, and hospital contracting analytics
- Lead channel analysis and strategic approach for contracting including gross to net tracking and forecasting
- Develop contract proposals (financial models, GTN implications, and ROI analysis for evaluation) and effective negotiation strategy as assets progress to launch
- Provide insights to the business to help improve forecasting, pricing, and contracting decisions and general business planning
- Other related duties as assigned
- Hire, train, and coach current and future team members
- Manage strategic advisors and vendors in support of the operation, including vendor selection, contracts, SOPs, reporting requirements, and budgets
- Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams in demand forecasting and pharmacy/wholesaler fulfillment throughout pre-launch and post-launch phases of products to ensure successful implementation of the trade/distribution strategy
- Provide analytical support to capture trends around coverage, distribution, and patient OOP costs
- Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be adept at developing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, have good conflict management, and have an ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years or equivalent of demonstrated, high-impact results in one or more Market Access function(s)
- Extensive prior experience in pricing with relevant experience in developing pricing tools, models, databases, systems and other components of relevant operational pricing processes to nurture and inform innovative strategic pricing concepts
- Comprehensive knowledge of access landscape, pricing vehicles, contracting strategies across key global markets (e.g. US, EU-5, Japan) and international price referencing as well HTA driven markets
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of US healthcare economics and the drivers of pharmaceutical demand, including pricing and reimbursement
- Experience developing contract proposals (financial models, GTN implications, and ROI analysis for evaluation) and effective negotiation strategy as assets progress to launch
Desired Qualifications
- Strong experience with US governmental payer channels (Medicare, Medicaid, Federal, Commercial)
- Excellent strategic, analytical skills and ability to draw insights / derive implications from analyses
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams. Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience partnering with health economics, brand marketing, NPP, government affairs, and BD&L
- Strong project management capabilities, including time and events, scenario and contingency planning, and the ability to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of outputs and deliverables
- Product launch experience strongly preferred
- Product/brand or portfolio marketing and/or sales, with biopharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience with developing, negotiating, and managing budgets
- An ability to influence for greater outcomes and work effectively with senior leadership across functions
Education
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business, science, or technology
- Masters or MBA with 8 years’ relevant experience preferred
