Join the power movement as a Senior Business Development and Partnership Manager

The Senior Business Development and  Partnership Manager will be a key member of CFS’ Commercial team, responsible for helping the success of CFS’s magnet business partners. This role will work across multiple management levels both within CFS and its partner’s organizations to deliver industry leading high temperature superconducting magnet products. The ideal candidate will have experience working with deeply technical teams at multiple management levels, a demonstrated track record of managing partnerships to success, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 
CFS has been a leader in the design, manufacturing, and commercialization of high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets since its founding. HTS magnets are a game changer technology and hold immense potential across various applications and CFS has been actively driving their commercialization for several years. We have existing customers now and interest in HTS magnet adoption has been steadily growing.
 
While the primary focus of this role will be on managing and fostering existing partnerships, this role will also contribute to the business development efforts of CFS’ magnet business.

What you'll do:

    • Manage overall alignment and communication between CFS and its partners business and technical teams
    • Identify new partnership opportunities arising from interactions with CFS’ partner
    • Manage multiple partner projects with different timelines to achieve partners overall goals
    • Lead (partnering with CFS’ TPMs) individual partner engagements (schedule, deliverables, reporting, program meetings)
    • Advocate for partner interests and concerns within CFS
    • Respond to partner questions promptly and help implement partner contract service level obligations
    • Assist the Director of CFS Magnet business with business development activities (market intelligence, external event attendance, initial product/partner discussions, contract negotiations)
    • Host partners and potential customers onsite at Devens for meetings and facility tours

What we're looking for:

    • BS in a technical field (physics/engineering)
    • 7+  years of experience in a customer facing partnership, business development, or program management role
    • Proven success of relationship and project management. You will serve as a liaison between CFS and our partners (both existing and new) and manage alignment and communication. You will be representing CFS as well as our partners
    • Demonstrated experience of collaboration with cross functional teams at all levels and technical skills (C level to working team level)
    • Demonstrated experience of managing partner agreements (milestones, schedules, etc)
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills
    • High degree of comfort with ambiguity with an ability to navigate uncertainty
    • Experience with frameworks for market analysis
    • Experience with basic financial modeling and various business partnership structures
    • Interest in being part of the growing fusion ecosystem
    • Passion for developing partnerships and helping partners succeed

Bonus points for:

    • MS in a technical field or an MBA
    • Domain knowledge of fusion systems, high temperature superconductors, or superconducting magnets
    • Business Development or initial customer/partner agreement negotiations
    • Knowledge of CRM systems

Must-have requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
    • Perform activities such as typing, standing, and sitting, for extended periods of time
    • Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
    • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
$110,000 - $185,000 a year
