Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.
CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. Our mission is to deploy these power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. To that end, CFS has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. Supported by the world’s leading investors, CFS is uniquely positioned to deliver limitless, clean, fusion power to combat climate change. To implement this plan, we are looking to add dedicated people to the team who treat people well, improve our work by adding multifaceted perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have achieved outstanding results through a range of pursuits, and have skills and experience related to this role.
Join the power movement as an internal communications specialist
We’re on the lookout for an Internal Communications Specialist to join our team. In this role, reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, you’ll play a crucial part in keeping everyone at CFS informed and engaged.
About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.
Combining decades of research, top talent and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future.
We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised over $2 billion in capital – more than any other fusion energy company in the U.S.
Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.
If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do:
- Coordinate internal communications: Be our ‘air traffic controller,’ by helping to develop and manage our internal communications channel strategy. Ensure messages reach the right people at the right time and through the right channels.
- Create engaging content: Write clear, informative, and engaging content for our team, including emails, Slack updates, newsletters, and digital signage. Use data to measure and improve our communications.
- Develop guidelines: Work with the head of internal communications to create guidelines and processes that ensure clarity and coordination. Collaborate with different teams to align their messages.
- Coordinate all-hands meetings: Handle the logistics and preparation for all-hands meetings. Contact presenters, review materials, coordinate with IT, and send brief recaps with key takeaways after each meeting. Always look for ways to make these meetings better.
- Spread the word: Keep everyone informed about the latest industry news and what’s happening at CFS.
- Boost employee engagement: Come up with fun and creative ways to recognize and engage our employees. Help keep CFS a positive and motivating place to work.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree: In communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 4 years in internal communications or a similar role, with a proven track record of crafting and delivering engaging content. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills are essential. Experience in project management is a plus.
- Team player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Creativity: We value creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Bonus points: Experience or interest in video production is a plus!
CFS team members thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits. We all tightly align with our company values of integrity, execution, impact and self-critique. As we grow, we are looking to add talented people who are mission driven and bring diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems.
