Charcuterie Artisans is currently searching for a Director of Accounting to oversee our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to bring clarity and purpose to the month end close process. Additionally, they should have experience with audits, insurance renewals, as well as a strong understanding of cash flow modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, analysis, and corresponding commentary from a multi-site operation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
- Conduct M&A activities, including financial modeling, working with tax accounting services on quality of earnings, post-merger asset/valuations, and back-office integrations.
- Coordinate the external audit process, ensuring it is timely and accurately prepared.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and regularly reviewed for adequacy and compliance.
- Lead the preparation and review of financial justifications for capital projects, including tracking spend, timing, and other costs against approved project plans, forecasts, and budgets to understand and report variances.
- Oversee treasury functions, including daily banking activities, cash sweeps, bank reconciliations, interest rates, swaps, and complete monthly and quarterly bank reporting.
- Manage the use of systems and reporting tools to optimize cash flows and prepare and analyze consolidated cash forecasts.
- Oversee and manage the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial data.
- Responsible for all tax planning and reporting across the company.
- Manage and coordinate ongoing insurance renewals (Property, D&O, etc.) and ongoing claims management.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to drive financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Develop and mentor the accounting team to foster growth and improve processes, creating a culture of accountability and excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar required. Master’s in business administration or finance and/or CPA preferred.
- Proven track record of 10+ years of accounting experience with 2+ years of leadership experience and demonstrated career progression.
- Big 4 public accounting and or CPG Industry experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working with multi-entity consolidations is a plus.
- Strong proficiency with ERP applications, Microsoft Office tools, and business intelligence software like Power BI and Adaptive with a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Deep mastery of core financial concepts, including accounting, cash management, profitability analysis, revenue recognition, financial modeling, treasury, and forecasting, balanced with sound business judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business scenarios, develop actionable insights, and drive performance improvement.
- Strong knowledge of audit and compliance processes, with the ability to manage regulatory and reporting requirements effectively.
- Ability to prepare and review financial justifications for capital projects and track related variances.
- Operational finance skills, including developing KPIs and performance metrics for accounting departments including AR collections, cash flow, disbursements, and other metrics that drive profitability and cash.
$160,000 - $185,000 a year
