We are looking for an awesome Data Engineer to join our Cherry Engineering Team which is a growing Istanbul-based team! As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for projects that enhance the availability and usability of high quality data throughout the company.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data-driven internal stakeholders, such as risk team, product managers, finance) to identify opportunities for better data access and usage
- Design and build modern data pipelines
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the data warehouse ecosystem
- Design and develop APIs to serve the analytics needs
- Design and build dashboards for product teams
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc/MSc/PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in one or more general purpose object oriented programming languages including Java, Python
- Proficiency with OOP concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed system and UNIX/Linux environments
- Good understanding of fundamental design principles for a scalable application
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, key-value stores and search engines (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch etc.)
- Familiarity with workflow management frameworks (Airflow, Prefect etc.)
- Proficiency in code versioning tools such as Git
- Strong sense of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Highly Effective time management and multitasking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to think proactively and having a result oriented approach
- Excellent SQL skills with experience building tables in a production environment
- Demonstrated strength in ETL development and building data pipelines
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Java and Spring Framework (Boot, MVC, Data, Cloud, Security etc)
- Experience with Service-oriented architecture, microservices and REST APIs
- Experience with architecting, designing and implementing large scale systems
- Experience with distributed systems and concurrent programming
- Experience with complex data pipelines.
- Experience in implementing data quality and sanity steps.
- Scripting skills e.g. Python, shell, etc.
- Working knowledge with Amazon Web Services , Google Cloud Platform and/or any other cloud computing service provider
- Experience or willingness to learn payment processing technologies
- Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies
- Contributions to OpenSource projects
- Experience in using Fivetran/Snowflake
- Experience in using Metabase
We are a growing team based between San Francisco and Istanbul. You will be joining a founding team of passionate, entrepreneurial, collaborative and all around fun human beings. Our Istanbul office is located in Fenerbahçe on a quiet street next to the some of the best coffee the city has to offer.
This position is full-time and based in Istanbul, Turkey.
