Cirque du Soleil is recruiting for its new European resident show in Berlin's iconic, Potsdamer Platz!
The Therapist will learn, demonstrate and deliver Performance Medicine department services while reporting operationally to the Head Therapist of Performance Medicine and the Artistic Director, as well as functionally to the Manager of Performance Medicine.
The Therapist will:
- Respect all arrangements and agreements made between Cirque du Soleil and other medical authorities and institutions in an ethical and professional manner;
- Help ensure the department's daily operational needs are met at the highest possible standard of professionalism, care and ethics;
- Adhere to the direction of and closely communicate with Head Therapist, Artistic Direction and, if needed, Manager of Performance Medicine;
- Adhere to optimal safety guidelines and processes within the artists’ working and performance environment;
- Foster interdependent relationships with the members of the artistic team while actively and professionally contributing to functional decision-making processes (Human Performance Risk Management);
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethics with co-workers, artists, and other health care professionals;
- Promptly convey all pertinent information to the Manager of Performance Medicine while actively participating in periodic meetings and reporting.
Clinical/Operational:
- Provide appropriate care, prevention, rehabilitation, and health care administration at the highest possible standard of care, which is relevant to the functional demand of our artists and environment;
- Provide timely and safe emergency response and care when necessary, while actively participating in maintaining/optimizing emergency preparedness of the environment;
- Actively collaborate in the Performance Team with Coaches and Head Therapist in establishing and implementing programs directed at the prevention of injury in an effort to achieve optimal performance, relevant to an artists’ specific needs;
- Make recommendations for referrals, when appropriate, for medical conditions (psychological and nutritional);
- Collaborate with Head Therapist and Coaching Department in the wider Performance Team to create moments of exchange for feedback and problem solving in regard to strength and conditioning, reintegration planning, and performance support;
- Consistently document and manage all medical information, interactions and events as per medico-legal and CdS specific requirements while upholding artist-therapist confidentiality at all times. This includes MediCirque and completion of necessary legal/insurance documents;
- Accompany artists to medical appointments (when indicated) for the purpose of artist/show support while ensuring all necessary legal/insurance documents are being obtained, properly communicated and filed;
- Collaborate with artistic management team to ensure clear communication regarding Performance Medicine recommendations for artist functional restrictions;
- Closely communicate with the show’s disability management or worker’s comp representative regarding insurance and worker's compensation necessary information, forms, and reports;
- Maintain a properly and professionally organized workspace;
- Communicate supply needs to Head Therapist in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- University-degree in Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy (Master’s degree preferred) along with an appropriately maintained and recognized professional registration;
- Post-graduate Qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. but not limited to: Sports Medicine/Physiotherapy/MSK Therapy/Strength and Conditioning) an advantage;
- Valid CPR/AED certification (additional emergency medical training and certifications preferred, particularly those of a performance or sports-specific aspect);
- Minimum 4 years' relevant clinical experience (on-field/event coverage preferred);
- Fluency in English and German;
- Be a lifelong learner, driving their professional practice and standards for continual improvement in relevant areas to be a outstanding MSK Therapist;
- Experience working with high-caliber athletes or artists;
- Engagement in ongoing professional learning and development with emphasis on manual therapy techniques, exercise progression, and emergency care;
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment;
- Ability to quickly adapt to unexpected situations and work flexibly with a variable schedule whilst under pressure;
- Ability to liaise with medical professionals to the best outcome for artists;
- Good computer skills;
- Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills;
- A pro-active, problem-solving attitude, with the ability to motivate others and work well in a team.

Die Position der Therapeut*in beinhaltet das Erlernen, Anwenden und Erbringen von Leistungen der Abteilung Performance Medicine. Die operative Berichtslinie erfolgt an dieden leitenden Therapeut*in der Abteilung Performance Medicine sowie an die künstlerische Leitung, mit funktionaler Berichtslinie an dieden Manager*in Performance Medicine.
Die Aufgaben der Therapeut*in umfassen:
- Einhaltung aller Vereinbarungen zwischen Cirque du Soleil und medizinischen Behörden bzw. Institutionen auf ethisch einwandfreie und professionelle Weise;
- Sicherstellung, dass die täglichen Aufgaben der Abteilung mit höchster Professionalität, Sorgfalt und ethischem Bewusstsein erfüllt werden;
- Enge Abstimmung und transparente Kommunikation mit der leitenden Therapeutin, der künstlerischen Leitung und ggf. Manager*in Performance Medicine;
- Umsetzung und Einhaltung optimaler Sicherheitsrichtlinien und -prozesse im Arbeits- und Aufführungsumfeld der Artist*innen;
- Förderung einer vertrauensvollen und interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit mit dem künstlerischen Team sowie aktive Mitwirkung an Entscheidungsprozessen im Bereich Human Performance Risk Management;
- Professionelles und ethisch verantwortungsvolles Verhalten im Umgang mit Kolleg*innen, Artist*innen und anderen Fachkräften im Gesundheitswesen;
- Zeitnahe Weitergabe relevanter Informationen an Manager*in Performance Medicine sowie regelmäßige Teilnahme an Meetings und Reportings.
Praxis/ Betreuung:
- Fachgerechte Versorgung, Prävention, Rehabilitation und Administration im Bereich Gesundheitsfürsorge;
- auf höchstem fachlichem Niveau, angepasst an die funktionalen Anforderungen der Artist*innen und ihr Umfeld;
- Schnelle und sichere Notfallversorgung bei Bedarf sowie aktive Beteiligung an der Aufrechterhaltung und Optimierung der Notfallbereitschaft im Arbeitsumfeld;
- Enge Zusammenarbeit mit Trainer*innen und der leitenden Therapeutin zur Entwicklung und Umsetzung individueller Programme zur Verletzungsprävention;
- Empfehlung medizinischer Überweisungen bei Bedarf, einschließlich psychologischer und ernährungsbezogener Themen;
- Zusammenarbeit mit der leitenden Therapeutin und der Trainingsabteilung im erweiterten Performance-Team zur Förderung von Feedbackaustausch und gemeinsamen Lösungsansätzen in den Bereichen Krafttraining, Reintegrationspläne und Leistungsunterstützung;
- Sorgfältige Dokumentation und Verwaltung aller medizinischen Informationen, Interaktionen und Ereignisse gemäß rechtlichen Vorgaben und internen Richtlinien von Cirque du Soleil (inkl. MediCirque), unter Wahrung der Vertraulichkeit gegenüber Artist*innen;
- Begleitung von Artist*innen zu medizinischen Terminen bei Bedarf, inklusive Sicherstellung der vollständigen, korrekten und rechtzeitigen Kommunikation und Archivierung aller erforderlichen rechtlichen und versicherungsbezogenen Unterlagen;
- Zusammenarbeit mit der künstlerischen Leitung zur klaren Kommunikation medizinischer Empfehlungen und ggf. funktioneller Einschränkungen für Artist*innen;
- Enge Abstimmung mit der zuständigen Ansprechperson für das Arbeitsunfähigkeits- und Unfallversicherungsmanagement hinsichtlich benötigter Informationen, Formulare und Berichte;
- Pflege eines ordentlichen, professionell geführten und funktionsfähigen Arbeitsplatzes;
- Rechtzeitige Kommunikation von Material- und Versorgungsbedarfen an die leitende Therapeutin.
Der ideale Kandidat verfügt über folgende Qualifikationen:
- Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium in Physiotherapie oder einem vergleichbaren Studiengang (Masterabschluss bevorzugt) mit gültiger, anerkannter Berufszulassung;
- Fort- oder Weiterbildung in einem relevanten Fachgebiet von Vorteil (z. B. Sportmedizin, muskuloskelettale Therapie, Kraft- und Konditionstraining);
- Gültige CPR/AED-Zertifizierung (Erste Hilfe; zusätzliche notfallmedizinische Schulungen, insbesondere im Leistungs- oder Sportbereich, wünschenswert);
- Mindestens 4 Jahre einschlägige Praxis (Erfahrung im Veranstaltungsbereich von Vorteil);
- Verhandlungssichere Sprachkenntnisse in Englisch und Deutsch;
- Selbstverständnis für lebenslanges Lernen mit dem Ziel, eine herausragende MSK-Therapeut*in zu sein;
- Erfahrung in der Arbeit mit Hochleistungs-Athlet*innen oder Artist*innen;
- Aktives Engagement in der beruflichen Weiterentwicklung, insbesondere in manuellen Therapien, Trainingsaufbau und Notfallversorgung;
- Fähigkeit zur Arbeit in einem kulturell vielfältigen Umfeld;
- Flexibilität und Bereitschaft, sich schnell auf unerwartete Situationen einzustellen und unter Druck zu arbeiten;
- Sicheres, empathisches Auftreten in der Kommunikation mit medizinischen Fachkräften zum Wohl der Artist*innen;
- Gute Computerkenntnisse;
- Ausgeprägte organisatorische Fähigkeiten sowie Führungs- und Managementkompetenz;
- Proaktive, lösungsorientierte Haltung mit der Fähigkeit, andere zu motivieren und effektiv im Team zu arbeiten.
