Audio Technician – Hawai’i – Resident Shows Division
Full-Time Position
 
This position is for a new creation that will be housed in the Outrigger Hotel in Waikiki Hawai’i.  The show is planning for a late fall opening with load-in and creation through spring and summer 2024.   Please note that there may be exceptional delays in this recruitment process as these positions will be staffed gradually. We thank you for your understanding.
 
We are looking for our next Audio Technician to join our Audio Services team. The main objective of this role is to bring support to our Audio team and will report to the Lead Audio Technician. In this position, you will be working with the sound crew in all audio operations to help oversee the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all Audio Department systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and will work well under pressure.
 
The Audio Technician will:
-          Work with technical management, artistic staff and stage management to support their needs during rehearsals, trainings and performances; Assist other departments as needed;
-          Mix the FOH console or run other audio department cue tracks to operate and troubleshoot audio, RF, video and communications equipment for performances, artistic training and maintenance; Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation; 
-          Inspect and maintain audio archives, RF, video and communications equipment; update maintenance and inspection records, as directed; 
-          Develop a thorough knowledge of all audio department equipment specific to the production in order to operate equipment safely; 
-          Ensure all departmental designs, equipment, systems, functions, procedures, show tracks, maintenance and inspections logs, special projects, etc. are properly and adequately documented; 
-          Work with the Technical Director and department Lead to establish and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity of performance operations of the department in the event of unexpected failure of a system, component or piece of equipment; 
-          Participate in special projects, including the research, purchasing, construction and installation of new show elements, and other projects that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects; 
-          Adhere to, and promote, all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
-          Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
-          Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
-          Complete all other job-related duties as assigned. 
 
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-          At least two years of previous experience as a professional Audio Technician;
-          Experience in operating audio, RF, video, and communications equipment; electronics training and audio equipment repair skills an asset; 
-          Working knowledge of networking, Shure wireless systems, Freespeak, AVID S6L and Microsoft applications; 
-          Basic understanding of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs; 
-          Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts;
-          Professional appearance and demeanor;
-          Available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
-          Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
-          High school diploma or equivalent;
-          Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
-          Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is $36 USD/hour.
This rate is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary.
