Blue Man Group New York at the Astor Place Theatre is seeking a Part Time Carpenter. 

This is a part time, hourly position, and candidates must have regular weekend availability. Part time crew members must be flexible and available for shows during nights, weekends, and the holiday and spring break seasons. The hourly rate for this position is $26.00. There will also be occasional need for weekday maintenance calls as needed. All employees are encouraged to attend full company meetings.

The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of stage mechanics as well as strong carpentry and rigging skills. Theatrical Automations experience is desirable. Candidate must be self-motivated, innovative and enjoy working in a fast-paced and creative environment. Theatrical carpentry/props experience required. Must be able to climb ladders and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities include: performing preset duties, executing show cues as well as turnover & post show duties in a safe and professional manner, emergency repairs of scenery and props, assisting deck crew during changeover on multiple show days, work and maintenance calls for projects as needed. Show carpenter will directly relate to and work with the stage run crew.
