Full-Time Position
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to bring support to our technical team. This position will bring support to Lighting/Projection/Video/LED/Audio-departmental equipment, systems or related projects that involve Lighting, Projection and Audio elements. The ideal candidate will have a team player mindset and should have effective communication skills.
The Lighting/Projection/Video/LED/Audio Technician will:
- Work with technical management, artistic staff and stage management staff to support their needs during rehearsals, trainings and performances;
- Set up and maintain complex systems consisting of multiple computers, consoles, media servers, LED processors, fixtures, dimmers, projectors, cameras, networks, and other stage related equipment;
- Develop a thorough knowledge of department equipment specific to the production, to operate and maintain equipment safely;
- Assist the Technical Director and Production Services in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance routines and inspections;
- Ensure all departmental designs, equipment, systems, functions, procedures, show tracks, maintenance and inspections logs, special projects, etc. are properly and adequately documented;
- Assist with inventory by identifying any additional departmental equipment that may be required and communicate with Lead when necessary;
- Work with technical management to establish and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity of performance operations in the event of unexpected failure of a system, component or piece of equipment; Participate in cue track rotation as directed;
- Lead collaboration efforts for special projects, including the research, purchasing, construction and installation of new show elements, and other projects that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects;
- Adhere to and actively promote all applicable German occupational safety and health regulations, including DGUV standards, the Arbeitsschutzgesetz (ArbSchG), and industry-specific guidelines, to ensure the safe operation of all technical and performance-related elements of the production; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
- Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
- Complete all other job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- At least three years of previous experience operating and maintaining lighting/projection/video/LED/audio systems in a large-scale theatrical or concert production;
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including Ethernet and wireless technology (TCIP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls.);
- Comprehension of basic principles of AC/DC electricity, basic electronics, MIDI, RF and DMX;
- Strong understanding of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs;
- Previous experience working with Hardware and software Video Recording, Editing, and Compression; Programming, operating and maintaining industry Media Server Playback systems and using their affiliated hardware and software;
- Technologies such as DVI, HDMI, Fiber Optics and Computer RAID Systems; Large format digital video projector hardware, setup and calibration;
- Understanding of LED programming and troubleshooting. Previous experience with Novastar processing software;
- Previous experience with camera setup, operation and programming to include controlling multi system PTZ cameras;
- Ability to do Special Events Integration;
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Final Cut Pro X, Premier, After Effects, Motion, or other industry standard editing packages;
- Working knowledge of lighting / projection specific software and systems such as GrandMA 3, ETC Paradigm, Vectorworks, Lightwright, Moving Light Assistant, Pangolin Beyond, Madrix, Capture, Zactrack, Pandora’s Box an asset;
- Working maintenance and operational knowledge of various types of moving lights, LED static lights, LED walls, projectors, and atmospherics required
- Working knowledge of Vectorworks an asset;
- Ability to operate or train to operate various lifts and heavy equipment like forklifts;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
- Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts;
- Professional appearance and demeanor;
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- Qualified Event Technology Specialist (Fachkraft für Veranstaltungstechnik);
- Certification or experience in handling stage machinery, rigging, and safety equipment (e.g., Sachkundeprüfung, IPAF certification);
- High School Diploma and or GED required; Completed Ausbildung as Veranstaltungstechniker/in (Event Technician) or equivalent qualification in stage technology.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; operating various lifts and heavy equipment; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. Wir suchen eine*nWartungstechniker*in zur Unterstützung unseres technischen Teams. In dieser Position unterstützen Sie die Beleuchtungs-, Projektions-, Video-, LED- und Audioabteilungen bei der Wartung von Equipment, Systemen und projektspezifischen Aufgaben, die Licht-, Projektions- und Audioelemente betreffen. Die ideale Person bringt Teamgeist mit und verfügt über ausgeprägte Kommunikationsfähigkeiten.
Der*die Wartungstechniker*in hat die Möglichkeit zur:
- Zusammenarbeit mit der technischen Leitung, künstlerischen Mitarbeitenden und dem Stage Management zur Unterstützung während Proben, Trainings und Aufführungen;
- Aufbau und Wartung komplexer Systeme, bestehend aus mehreren Computern, Konsolen, Mediaservern, LED-Prozessoren, Scheinwerfern, Dimmereinheiten, Projektoren, Kameras, Netzwerken und weiteren bühnenbezogenen Geräten;
- Aneignung fundierter Kenntnisse über die produktionseigenen Anlagen verschiedener Abteilungen zur sicheren Bedienung und Instandhaltung;
- Unterstützung bei der Bestandsaufnahme sowie Identifikation zusätzlicher Bedarfe in Abstimmung mit der Abteilungseitung;
- Unterstützung des Technischen Direktors und der Abteilung Production Services bei der Entwicklung und Durchführung präventiver Wartungen und Inspektionen;
- Fachgerechte Dokumentation von abteilungsbezogenen Designs, Geräten, Systemen, Funktionen, Abläufen, Showabläufen, Wartungs- und Inspektionsprotokollen sowie Sonderprojekten;
- Zusammenarbeit mit der technischen Leitung zur Erstellung und Pflege von Schulungs- und Backup-Plänen, um bei einem unerwarteten System-, Komponenten- oder Geräteausfall einen reibungslosen Vorstellungsbetrieb sicherzustellen; Teilnahme an Cue-Track-Rotationen nach Vorgabe;
- Umsetzung von Projekten, einschließlich Recherche, Beschaffung, Bau und Installation neuer Showelemente sowie weiterer abteilungsspezifischer Projekte nach Anweisung; flexible Arbeitszeiten erforderlich;
- Einhaltung und Förderung aller gesetzlichen und betrieblichen Arbeitsschutzvorschriften; Teilnahme an allen erforderlichen Sicherheits- und Rettungsübungen;

Was braucht man für diese Rolle? Die folgenden Qualifikationen sind die Grundlagen für eine erfolgreicheTätigkeit in dieser Position:
- Mindestens drei Jahre Erfahrung in der Bedienung und Wartung von Licht-, Projektions-, Video-, LED- oder Audiosystemen in groß angelegten Theater- oder Konzertproduktionen;
- Fähigkeit zur Fehlersuche und Reparatur elektrischer Systeme, einschließlich Ethernet- und Funktechnologien (TCP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls);
- Verständnis grundlegender Prinzipien der Elektrizität sowie Grundkenntnisse in Elektronik, MIDI, RF und DMX;
- Sicherer Umgang mit digitalem Testequipment zur Fehlerdiagnose und –behebung;
- Erfahrung mit Hard- und Softwarelösungen zur Videoaufnahme und -bearbeitung; Kenntnisse in der Programmierung, Bedienung und Wartung von Mediaserver-Systemen und zugehöriger Hardware/Software;
- Kenntnisse in Technologien wie DVI, HDMI, Glasfaser und RAID-Systemen; Erfahrung mit großformatigen digitalen Videoprojektoren, deren Einrichtung und Kalibrierung;

- Erfahrung in Einrichtung, Bedienung und Programmierung von Kamerasystemen (z. B. PTZ-Kameras);
- Fähigkeit zur Integration bei Sonderveranstaltungen;
- Sicherer Umgang mit MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Final Cut Pro X, Premiere, After Effects, Motion oder vergleichbarer Editing-Software;
- Kenntnisse in spezifischer Software für Licht- und Projektionstechnik sowie Beleuchtungssystemen wie GrandMA3, ETC Paradigm; Erfahrung mit Lightwright, Moving Light Assistant, Pangolin Beyond, Madrix, Capture, Zactrack, Pandora’s Box von Vorteil;
- Praktische Kenntnisse in Wartung und Betrieb von Moving Lights, LED-Statik-Leuchten, LED-Wänden, Projektoren und atmosphärischen Effekten;
- SQQ2-Zertifizierung oder Anschlägerschein von Vorteil;
- Ausbildung zur Fachkraft für Veranstaltungstechnik von Vorteil;
- Sicherer Umgang mit MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams), Final Cut Pro X, Premiere, After Effects, Motion oder vergleichbarer Editing-Software;
- Befähigung zum Bedienen bzw. zur Schulung im Umgang mit Hebezeugen und schwerem Gerät wie Gabelstaplern;
- Fließende Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift;
- Ausgeprägte soziale Kompetenz im Umgang mit Geschäftspartner*innen;
- Professionelles Auftreten und Erscheinungsbild;
- Bereitschaft zu theaterüblichen Diensten, auch an Sonn- und Feiertagen;
- Körperliche Eignung zur Ausführung der wesentlichen Aufgaben wie Hocken, Knien, langes Stehen und Heben (mind. 23 kg); eine vollständige Liste wird im Angebot bereitgestellt. Gegebenenfalls werden angemessene Vorkehrungen zur Unterstützung von Menschen mit Behinderungen getroffen;
