Head of Wardrobe – Hawai’i - Resident Shows Division
Full-Time Position
 
This position is for a new creation that will be housed in the Outrigger Hotel in Waikiki Hawai’i.  The show is planning for a late fall opening with load-in and creation through spring and summer 2024. Please note that there may be exceptional delays in this recruitment process as these positions will be staffed gradually. We thank you for your understanding.
 
We are looking for our next Head of Wardrobe. The main objective includes working closely with the Artistic Director and Costume Designer to maintain show quality, as well as Show Management to smoothly run the daily operations of the Wardrobe Department.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices, and procedures.  The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as refined technical skills in costume/craft maintenance and repair.  As the Head of Wardrobe you will work in collaboration with the artists and other technical teams to achieve a smooth-running show both on-stage and off.
 
The Head of Wardrobe will:
-          Oversee all departmental task lists and crew scheduling of day and show crews, rehearsals, trainings and show calls with the guidance of the Department Manager and Technical Management; 
-          Conduct staff performance reviews and assisting with hiring of new employees; 
-          Along with support staff establish show tracks, staffing and run of show procedures; 
-          Attend artists trainings and show staging sessions, when needed;
-          Work with Technical Director and Department Manager on establishing and maintaining show budgets; 
-          Establish systems of inspection and maintenance of costumes, shoes and accessories; 
-          Manage records, including storage and inventories; 
-          Work with the Wardrobe Manager to develop systems and procedures for maintenance of information and technical specifications on all costumes and accessories; 
-          Along with the support staff conduct costume fittings, manage items in Costume Database, transfer costume notes to Studio Team, check in and follow-up of new costumes into inventory system; 
-          Build the yearly costume order projections using existing systems and tools; perform on going follow up to insure orders continue to be relevant throughout the year
-          Manage the inventory and the order and procurement of supplies for maintenance and upkeep; 
-          Attend performances regularly to ensure the artistic quality of costumes is maintained for each show, 
-          Participate in special projects or normal costume installations as directed by the Artistic Director and Wardrobe Manager; Participate in media events; 
-          Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time; 
-          Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
-          Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
-          Assist other departments, as needed, to run the performances and rehearsals;
-          Complete all other job-related duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-          At least five years of previous experience as a professional Costume Technician with experience in costume repair, shoe repair, makeup and millinery on large-scale stage productions; 
-          Previous experience leading project's and crew; 
-          Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of SAP, and Photoshop is an asset; 
-          In-depth experience in theatrical costumes for large-scale production; 
-          Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts;
-          Professional appearance and demeanor;
-          Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays (specific shifts are not guaranteed);
-          Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card; 
-          Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
-          Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $83,000 – $88,000 USD/year.
This range is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided upon elements related, but not limited to: skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
 
** Please note: This position is required to be on-site in Hawai’i. There will be no relocation assistance provided for this position.**
