Lighting, Video Projections and Special Effects
Full-Time Position
We are looking for a Projections Technician to join our Projections team! The Projections Technician’s role is to work as part of the Projections team to run tracks as needed, install and maintain Projections equipment in a safe and consistent manner for the show. The ideal candidate will be a technically savvy individual with excellent interpersonal skills needed to maintain relationships with the team and other departments.
The Projections Technician will have the opportunity to:
- Run cue tracks, operate and troubleshoot department equipment, as directed for performances, Artist training and maintenance;
- Maintain all Projections documentation related to the maintenance, operation, etc. of equipment, systems and tracks;
- Set up and maintain interactive Projections system consisting of several computers, projectors, cameras, networks and other stage related equipment; Set up, calibrate and maintain multi-stacked DLP video projectors;
- Administer and maintain Windows and Mac based PC’s connected to a wide variety of stage equipment;
- Assist with administrative tasks and inventory by identifying any additional Projections equipment that may be required and communicate with leadership when necessary;
- Develop a thorough knowledge of Projections department equipment specific to the production, in order to operate equipment safely;
- Participate in special projects, including the construction and installation of new show elements, and other projects that include Projections elements or other needs that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects;
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance routines and inspections – particularly life safety and show critical – for all departmental equipment, as well as equipment that may not be directly owned by the company but has significance to the show and a relationship to the department’s function; ensure that these routines and inspections are appropriately documented;
- Adhere to and actively promote all applicable German occupational safety and health regulations, including DGUV standards, the Arbeitsschutzgesetz (ArbSchG), and industry-specific guidelines, to ensure the safe operation of all technical and performance-related elements of the production; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
- Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
- Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
- Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position:
- At least one year of previous experience with interactive visual technologies and stage performance;
- At least one year of previous experience with video technologies and technical theatre, with specific training in electronics and theatrical lighting systems;
- Working knowledge of the following:
. o Interactive visual technologies;
. o MDI, DMX, Max / MSP;
. o Ethernet and wireless technology (TCP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls).
- Previous experience with the following:
. o PC hardware setup, maintenance and administration; both PC & Mac operating platforms;
. o Large format video projectors, video cameras, hardware and software video capture, editing and compression;
. o Programming, operating and maintaining Media Server Playback systems and using their affiliated hardware and software;
. o Technologies including DVI, HDMI, Fiber optics and RAID systems.
- Professional appearance and demeanor;
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
- A Beleuchtungsmeister certification is an asset;
- Qualified Event Technology Specialist (Fachkraft für Veranstaltungstechnik)
- Certification or experience in handling stage machinery, rigging, and safety equipment (e.g., Sachkundeprüfung, IPAF certification).
- High School Diploma and or GED required; Completed Ausbildung as Veranstaltungstechniker/in (Event Technician) or equivalent qualification in stage technology.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. - Fluent in English, both written and spoken; with an international cast the operational language will be English;

Wir suchen eine*n Projektionstechniker*in zur Verstärkung unseres Projektionsteams. In dieser Position unterstützen Sie das Team bei der Verlegung von Leitungen sowie der Installation und Wartung der Projektionstechnik. Sie sorgen dabei für eine sichere und konsistente Durchführung im Rahmen der Show. Die ideale Person ist technisch versiert und verfügt über ausgeprägte soziale Kompetenzen, die für eine konstruktive Zusammenarbeit im Team und mit anderen Abteilungen unerlässlich sind.
Der Projektionstechniker hat die Möglichkeit zur:
- Zusammenarbeit mit der technischen Leitung, künstlerischen Mitarbeitenden und dem Stage Management zur Unterstützung während Proben, Trainings und Aufführungen;
- Aneignung fundierter Kenntnisse über die produktionseigenen Anlagen verschiedener Abteilungen zur sicheren Bedienung und Instandhaltung;
- Unterstützung bei der Bestandsaufnahme sowie Identifikation zusätzlichen Bedarfs in Abstimmung mit der Abteilungsleitung;
- Unterstützung des Technischen Direktors und der Abteilung Production Services bei der Entwicklung und Durchführung präventiver Wartungen und Inspektionen;
- Administration und Wartung von Windows- und Mac-basierten Systemen, die mit verschiedenen bühnenbezogenen Geräten verbunden sind;
- Aufbau und Wartung eines interaktiven Projektsystems bestehend aus mehreren Computern, Projektoren, Kameras, Netzwerken und weiteren bühnenbezogenen Equipment; Einrichtung, Kalibrierung und Wartung von DLP-Projektoren Stacks;
- Fachgerechte Dokumentation von abteilungsbezogenen Designs, Geräten, Systemen, Funktionen, Abläufen, Showabläufen, Wartungs- und Inspektionsprotokollen sowie Sonderprojekten;
- Zusammenarbeit mit der technischen Leitung zur Erstellung und Pflege von Schulungs- und Backup-Plänen, um bei einem unerwarteten System-, Komponenten- oder Geräteausfall einen reibungslosen Vorstellungsbetrieb sicherzustellen; Teilnahme an Cue-Track-Rotationen nach Vorgabe;
- Durchführung von Show Tracks und Fehlerbehebung während Vorstellungen und Proben;
- Umsetzung von Projekten, einschließlich Recherche, Beschaffung, Bau und Installation neuer Showelemente und weiterer abteilungsspezifischer Projekte nach Anweisung;
- Einhaltung und Förderung aller gesetzlichen und betrieblichen Arbeitsschutzvorschriften; Teilnahme an allen erforderlichen Sicherheits- und Rettungsübungen;
- Aktiver Beitrag zu einem sicheren und positiven Arbeitsumfeld durch Einhaltung aller Standards, Werte, Richtlinien und Vorschriften der Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group;
- Abteilungsübergreifende Unterstützung anderer Bereiche nach Bedarf;
- Ausführung aller weiteren arbeitsbezogenen Aufgaben gemäß Anweisung.
Was braucht man für diese Stelle? Die folgenden Qualifikationen sind die Grundlagen für eine erfolgreiche Tätigkeit in dieser Position:
- Mindestens 1 Jahr Berufserfahrung im Bereich interaktive visuelle Technologien in Bühnenproduktionen;
- Mindestens 1 Jahr Erfahrung mit Videotechnik und technischer Theaterarbeit, mit spezifischer Schulung in Elektronik und Lichtsystemen;
- Praktische Kenntnisse in: Interaktiven visuellen Technologien; MDI, DMX, Max/MSP; Ethernet- und Funktechnologien (TCP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls);
- Erfahrung in: Einrichtung, Wartung und Administration von PC-Hardware (PC & Mac); Großformat-Projektoren, Videokameras, Videoaufnahme, -schnitt und -kompression; Programmierung, Bedienung und Wartung von Media-Server-Systemen inkl. zugehöriger Hard- und Software; Technologien wie DVI, HDMI, Glasfaser, RAID-Systeme;
- Ausbildung zur Fachkraft für Veranstaltungstechnik oder vergleichbare Abschlüsse mit Kenntnissen in Projektion;
- Beleuchtungsmeisterqualifikation von Vorteil;
- Qualifikationen in Rigging, Bühnentechnik und PSA-Anwendung sind von Vorteil;
- Sicherer Umgang mit MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams);
- Befähigung zum Bedienen bzw. zur Schulung im Umgang mit Hebezeugen und schwerem Gerät wie Gabelstaplern;
- Fließende Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift; Fähigkeit zur klaren und effektiven Kommunikation über Headset; bei einer internationalen Besetzung ist die Arbeitssprache Englisch;
- Professionelles Auftreten und Erscheinungsbild;
- Bereitschaft zu theaterüblichen Diensten, auch an Sonn- und Feiertagen;
- Körperliche Eignung zur Ausführung der wesentlichen Aufgaben wie Hocken, Knien, Höhenarbeit, Seilzugang, langes Stehen und Heben (mind. 23 kg); eine vollständige Liste wird im Angebot bereitgestellt. Gegebenenfalls werden angemessene Vorkehrungen zur Unterstützung von Menschen mit Behinderungen getroffen;
- Gültige Arbeitserlaubnis für Deutschland.
