Audio Engineer
On-Call Position
Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for on-call Musical Instrument Technicians.
The Musical Instrument Technicians are responsible for ensuring that all drums, percussion, and strings-related items are tuned and maintained to Blue Man specifications and artistic aesthetic. This position requires a strong background and knowledge of percussive instruments, strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other departments, management, and performers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
· Execute all preset duties, show cues, turnover, and post-show duties as outlined on the run sheets in a safe, professional, efficient and timelyfashion;
· Participate in sound check when requested;
· Incorporate new cues when necessary to accommodate changes to the show;
· Maintain open communication with MIT Lead,Production Manager, and Stage Management about each performance through written and verbal notes;
· Ensure follow-up of all MIT technical notes that are documented in the Performance Report and communicate follow-up to the MIT Leadin a timelymanner;
· Accommodate trailing of position when requested;
· Ensure that all string and percussion instruments, amplifiers, effects, etc., are tuned and maintained prior to each scheduled show in accordance with the sound and artistic aesthetic set in place by Artistic Direction;
· Troubleshoot and repair issues regarding pedals, mid-switchers, amplifiers, associated cabling, interconnections, and all applicable gear under real time show conditions;
· Maintain knowledge and training to run, repair, and/or identify problems with all technical elements of the show under the MIT’s field and within the MIT department;
· Participate in work calls as scheduled;
· Execute general repair, construction, maintenance, and/or restocking of supplies and equipment;
· Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise;
· Must be willing and available to run more shows during the holiday schedule than usual;
· Research and develop on an as needs basis;
· Administrative organization on an as needs basis;
· Assist in maintaininginventory;
· Attend meetings as required by management;
· Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of workspaces;
· Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department;
· Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events;
· Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance toother departments as needed;
· All other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

· The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required;
· Experience with musical instrument construction and tuning;
· Strong communication and time management skills;
· A flexible schedule;
· Organizational skills a must;
· Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show;
· Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
· Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
· Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
· At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment;
· Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
· Bachelor’s degree in Music or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
· Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
· Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate viaheadset;
· Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
· Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. This is an on-call hourly position, eligible for overtime and 401K. This compensation is location-specific and compensation in other geographies may vary. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided upon elements related, but not limited to: skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
