The Senior Business Analyst, Sales Intelligence & Analytics will join the Data, Tools and Reporting Operations Team – a newly built team that is responsible for developing the revenue intelligence infrastructure for Cision globally by enhancing and maintaining our BI platform, building reports and dashboards, overseeing and assuring hygiene of Sales-related data, developing data and analytic programs and supporting the business in data analysis.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for close collaboration with leaders across the organization to drive the development and adoption of our BI platform Domo, build and expand our KPI frameworks, gather requirements for projects related to our intelligence infrastructure, and translates those requirements into technical specifications for report writers, SQL developers and data engineers. While the focus of the Senior Business Analyst is placed on collaboration and development of our KPI framework, they also need to technical to understand our data infrastructure end-to-end, drive efficient collaboration with data engineers, and build reports and dashboards by themselves if the need arises.

The ideal candidate will be able to deliver results, take ownership of work and outputs, find a way to work through barriers, and work efficiently. We’re looking for someone to think analytically about the business, have a critical eye for detail, and have high expectations and standards. 

This is a fast-paced and evolving commercial environment that requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and work towards a deadline. The right candidate will possess superb analytical skills and the ability to work as a team, not only with the Sales and Revenue Operations leaders and their colleagues but cross-functionally across the organization to drive growth and retention. 

Responsibilities

    • Support organizational decision-making with data-driven insights
    • Create and define metrics for the business, specific regions and teams
    • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into technical specification and oversee implementation
    • Provide technical expertise and best practice to support and guide the business in the use of data
    • Review and optimize data quality – identify and resolve data issues and consult on new processes and methods to correct at source

    • Reporting Responsibilities
    • Report on KPIs to measure performance for the business, specific regions and teams
    • Work across regional and global Sales, Marketing, FP&A, Product and Customer Success functions to deliver reporting, insights and recommendations
    • Design, build and maintain high-quality dashboards, KPIs and visualisations on our BI platform Domo
    • Liaise and support the report building team in design and delivery of dashboards and reports
    • Help maintain the reporting and analytics infrastructure in our BI platform to help support business decisions and team management

    • Other Key Responsibilities 
    • Act as regional point of contact for the Data, Tools and Reporting Operations team, evaluate and document requests
    • Establish and document standardized processes and best practices within Domo
    • Conduct training sessions for end-users on Domo functionalities
    • Identify system inefficiencies/gaps, troubleshoot operational issues, and explore opportunities for updates
    • Work with the SQL developer or data engineer on new builds, existing iteration and refactoring
    • Work with the SQL developer and report analyst on the administration and maintenance of Domo
    • Implement and monitor data quality checks and ensure data accuracy
    • Establish processes for identifying and addressing data quality issues

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree or an MBA can be advantageous.
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a related field, ideally in B2B SaaS
    • Experienced in stakeholder management and stakeholder communications
    • Experience with data visualisation tools to create reports and dashboards, able to articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
    • Effective planning and organizational skills
    • Proficient in decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving, with the ability to multitask
    • Experience working in a highly collaborative, dynamic, and team-oriented work environment
    • High level of general technical understanding
    • Understanding of best practice business processes
    • Easily adopts to new technology 
    • Problem solving capabilities, attention to detail, data handling skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members, internal customers, high-level staff and external vendors, strong customer service orientation, good writing skills, ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences
    • Understanding of user experience
    • Experience of working with large volumes of data
    • Experience training and supporting users
    • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., SQL) preferred
    • Experience with Salesforce preferred
    • Proficient in MS Office (primarily Excel)
    • Knowlege of Domo is a bonus but not required

    • Hybrid schedule 2-3 days a week in our Chicago office.
