PAY RATE
$70,000.00 to $75,000.00 Annual Salary DOE
Exempt position (not eligible for overtime under state law)  
 

THE LOCATION
In general, Colorado is noted for its lustrous landscape of mountains, forests, tall plains, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers and desert lands. The Western Slope of Colorado is home to about 10% of Colorado's residents, as it contains 33% of the state's land, and some of the most popular tourist and recreation areas.
 

THE POSITION
We are looking for a Special Events Manager to join our team! This position will be in charge of managing the Company’s Western Slope’s events and event security staff to ensure that our clients are happy, operations run smoothly, and the events are successful. The Special Events Manager must be able to run any size of an event to meet the expectations of this position by planning, overseeing the design, organize, setup, and execution. Some of our contracted events include The Avalon Theatre, Amphitheater at Las Colonias, Grand Junction Convention Center, JUCO, Country Jam, Mesa County Fairgrounds, etc. Additionally, you must ensure that all shifts are covered at all times – even if you have to fill the shift yourself and manage overtime at the Company’s set accepted levels. 

Events Responsibilities

    • At the request of the client and/or direct supervisor, client meetings and/or site walk-thru’s.
    • Developing and maintaining a relationship with clients.
    • Responsible for the successful running of each event by:
    • Personally running/on site at large-scale events.
    • Identifying advanced team members to transition into a division leader or ESO.
    • Training ESO’s (Cpl’s & Sgt’s) & Site-Checking their first few events.
    • Coordinating with ESO’s for their upcoming respective events to include:
    • Any event specific needs
    • Transportation details including who on their roster is on our driver list.
    • Information about rosters: which guards scheduled are new/seasoned.
    • Hiring/Staffing Events to include recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, etc.
    • Time/Labor approvals for events held within respective region
    • Prepare and publish event schedules in a timely manner to avoid staffing shortages.
    • Provide quality assurance to clients and events through customer service and professionalism.
    • Assign or delegate different tasks to team members and ensure assigned tasks are handled creditably.
    • Front line and immediate disciplinary action to event staff as needed and appropriate record keeping of staff compliments, complaints, and call-off’s.
    • Team Supervision over ESO’s and ensuring their job duties (as follows) are trained/executed in a timely manner:
    • Successful completion and submission of ESO roster to account for all personnel and equipment.
    • Putting correct people in the correct spots for OJT, hands on training, and specific spots in field to ensure their success.
    • Identifying advanced team members to transition into a division leader or ESO & relaying the individual’s information to the Event Manager.
    • Coordinating with Event Managers for their upcoming respective events and their duties for said event to include placement, rotation increments, POC info, Ops plans, etc.
    • Ensure each event flows smoothly without any issues.
    • Coach event team on proper procedures and/or rules for said event to include:
    • Making sure all scheduled staff members are aware of where they need to park.
    • Making sure all scheduled staff members are aware of transportation details if provided.
    • Coordinating last minute changes with scheduled staff members (i.e road closures, etc.)
    • Communicating specific prohibited items not allowed for their respective event (i.e. umbrellas).

General Management Responsibilities

    • Documenting operational tasks and reporting to upper-level management
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed by:
    • Contributing to the overtime minimization across all Colorado accounts
    • Assist with MOD phone coverage at least one weekend per month
    • Support other Special Events Departments and Fixed Contract Departments as needed.

Trainer Responsibilities

    • Assessing the needs of each department to ensure all certs are up to date
    • Identifying any new employees in need of site-specific training upon regular communication with department heads
    • Planning, scheduling, communicating, and executing trainings as needed
    • Ensure relevant policies and procedures are included in trainings
    • Issuing certifications / recording cert dates, expirations, renewals, etc.

Qualification Requirements

    • Provide credible references and I-9 Employment Eligibility Documentation (legal eligibility to work in the U.S.).
    • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
    • Must have 3 to 5 years of related experience either in the security industry, in event planning, and/or management.
    • Ability to perform job tasks in an extremely professional manner in a customer service driven industry.
    • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures to be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and key performance indicators. 
    • Must be able to perform a variety of tasks. 
    • Must be able to lead and direct the work of others.
    • Demonstrate professionalism in a customer service-driven industry.
    • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
    • Pass a background check.
    • Possess basic computer skills.
    • Exemplify outstanding customer service skills.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and energetic demeanor.
    • Punctuality is a must; never be late.
