About the Role

Join Citrine as a Backend Team Lead and shape the future of our organization! You'll lead a dynamic team, fostering inclusivity, and driving impactful solutions that align with our business vision. Guiding our technical roadmap, you'll lead cross-functional collaborations, optimizing productivity and efficiency across the board. With a focus on simplicity and maintainability, you'll architect robust systems and champion our migration towards multi-tenant platforms. Your expertise will ensure our backend services are not only high-performing but also reliable and scalable. Through mentorship and coaching, you'll empower team members to maximize their potential while championing enhancements to our developer experience. As a key player in our on-call rotation, you'll ensure rapid incident response and minimal interruptions to our services. Responsibilities

    • Create and advocate for a vision for the backend team’s role at Citrine. Foster inclusivity and facilitate effective communication between the backend team and the rest of the organization.
    • Maximize the impact of the backend team. Prioritize high-value solutions to achieve our business goals.
    • Direct the career development and technical growth of the team through mentorship and coaching in software engineering best practices, design, and system architecture.
    • Create and drive progress on technical roadmaps – working across team boundaries for larger projects. Optimize productivity by prioritizing productivity improvements, running effective meetings, and effective staffing.
    • Guide our systems architecture with an emphasis on simplicity and maintainability. You’ll be a key contributor as we migrate towards multi-tenant systems.
    • Own and lead improvements to our backend service architecture – maximizing its performance and reliability.
    • Instrument and improve the observability of our backend system.
    • Mentor engineers on best practices for instrumentation and observability.
    • Manage and participate in an on-call rotation with other software engineers.
    • Improve the developer experience helping maximize development velocity and minimizing interruptions.

Skills and Experience

    • 10+ years as a software engineer or equivalent role.
    • 5+ years of experience managing people.
    • 5+ years of project management experience.
    • Demonstrated results in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Pay Transparency 

At Citrine, we want your path to career growth to be transparent, straightforward, fair, and easily accessible -- starting with your application and interview process. The annual salary range(s) listed below reflect the level(s) we are considering for this position (please note that there may be unique situations where you may fall outside of this range). Where you fall within the range(s) will depend on how your experience and skills align to our internal leveling system as we learn more about you throughout the interview process. 

$185,000 USD - $220,000 USD
