Citrine is growing; we need a dynamic Sr. Solutions Engineer (SE) to support our expanding sales pipeline, deliver on complex projects, and lead cross-company initiatives. This position is for people currently based in the European Union only with a strong preference for candidates located in Germany, The Netherlands, and Belgium.

About the Role
Citrine is expanding its business, and we are looking for a customer-centric Sr. Solutions Engineer (SE) to support the ever-growing sales pipeline and execute complex projects. A SE collaborates across multiple teams to solve customer problems and ensures that project delivery is aligned with Citrine’s value propositions. This is a new team, and the role requires entrepreneurialism to create new strategies, best practices, and metrics & processes to support the growing team. You will be collaborating with the Sales team to close deals. At the same time, you will be working with experts from Customer Success, Data Science & Engineering, and Product teams to improve our capabilities. You are excited by meeting industry leaders and business executives in the pre-sales process, and you are motivated to solve complex AI problems by working with a technical team from the industry. You will gain confidence navigating every stage of the customer success journey from lead generation to project execution.
Responsibilities
- Leverage your chemistry, engineering, and/or materials background to lead technical sales calls with industry veterans, technical and business stakeholders (e.g., VP of Engineering, Director of R&D, etc.)
- Paint the vision of how Citrine can solve our customers’ challenges by aligning our platform’s technical capabilities to customers’ domains to create value-driven business solutions
- Communicate and identify market trends and channel industry feedback to Citrine’s technology teams to help inform our Product roadmap
- Create and showcase custom demos to prospective customer audiences, and portray a compelling case for Citrine’s technology for prospective clients using your industry expertise
- Execute short-term AI projects with customers within tight deadlines by implementing Citrine’s technology using a ‘get it done’ attitude and overcome any technical hurdles while keeping an eye on what is most valuable to the customer
- Travel to prospective clients to build client relationships and sell the vision of material informatics at their organization as a Citrine technical expert
- Develop new strategies, best practices, metrics, and processes to support the growing team
- Partner with Customer Success, Data Science & Engineering teams to implement cutting-edge tools into projects
- Represent Citrine and attend designated webinar events, trade shows, conferences, and technical symposiums to discover potential opportunities for partnerships
Skills and Experience
- BS, MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Related Field with >5 years of relevant industry experience or an understanding of chemical processing of materials (ex. Specialty Chemicals, CPG, Paints etc.)
- Fluent programming skills (Python preferred) with experience or coursework in machine learning and/or statistics
- Demonstrated experience communicating and presenting complex technical concepts to industry veterans, scientists, technical and business stakeholders
- Desire to learn complex B2B Sales processes
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced, customer-first global environment with complex stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, technical projects and teams to outstanding results
- Ability to travel up to 25% to support sales
- BONUS: Experience in consulting or building a business value framework, ROI, R&D value calculations, and financial impact of R&D to support sales engagements and success teams
