Climate Power has an immediate opening for an Political Associate / Senior Political Associate, to support Climate Power’s and help develop and implement Climate Power’s political strategy.  

Climate Power is an independent strategic communications and paid media operation focused on building the political will and public support for bold climate action. Founded by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, and Sierra Club, Climate Power integrates hard-hitting research, polling, state and national earned media, digital and paid media to influence the national conversation, embolden leaders to take immediate, bold climate action, and expose climate deniers and their oil and gas lobby allies.

Responsibilities:

    • Manage external writing: Create and carry out unified writing voice for Climate Power across departments; partner emails, and other written materials; manage editing process with external partners and surrogates. 
    • Hill engagement: Send weekly email to Hill staffers with campaign updates; grow relationships with Hill staff, identify unique ways to work together with Members.
    • Political partner engagement: Create daily partner sends, work with political partners to disseminate our messaging, research, digital content, and collaborate on special projects. Execute strategic plans with Political Director, Associate Political Director, and Campaigns colleagues; carry out large project coordination with external partners, state advisory board members, and other allies.
    • Partner relationships: Support key partnerships with digital and communications focused partners and help plan events, briefings, and meetings with a range of progressive organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders. 
    • Support team meetings & events: Work with Campaigns and Political team directors to plan substantive events, briefings, and meetings with a range of progressive organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders. 
    • Program support: Track and support the team’s campaign and political activities, collaborating with the Communications, Political, Research, and Digital teams. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

    • At least 2 years of political experience, including issue advocacy and/or electoral experience.
    • Experience working with elected officials and in campaign operations; experience working with climate and environmental groups a plus. 
    • Ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts.
    • Excellent writing ability, communications, and presentation skills.
    • Strong strategic thinking and writing skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced campaign environment with unpredictable hours in high-pressure situations.
This full time exempt position reports to Climate Power’s Associate Political Director.

Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The salary range for an Associate position starts at $56,000; the salary range for a Senior Associate position starts at $65,000. We offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off.
