Climate Power is an independent strategic communications and paid media operation focused on building the political will and public support for bold climate action. Founded by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters, and Sierra Club, Climate Power integrates hard-hitting research, polling, state and national earned media, digital and paid media to influence the national conversation, embolden leaders to take immediate, bold climate action, and expose climate deniers and their oil and gas lobby allies. 

About This Role

Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Political Outreach Associate.  The Outreach Associate will support the Political Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director with implementation of the organization’s strategic political and policy engagement. 

Preference will be given to qualified candidates that are located in Washington, DC, though the position does not require the employee to work from the office.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Supports the Political Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director in partner and coalition outreach, participates in coalition meetings, and coordinates and ensures follow-up on partner and coalition efforts.
    • Draft frequent email outreach and other communications to disseminate our messaging, research, and digital content. Ensure timely follow-up to partners and stakeholders. 
    • Take detailed, clear, and accurate notes and track next steps from internal and external meetings.
    • Work with the Deputy Managing Director to maintain and grow relationships with partners and coalitions, including climate and clean energy groups, local and state elected officials, youth, scientists, economists, and labor groups.
    • Assist the Political team with rapid response requests, including identifying experts and partners to pitch to the press or activate in key moments.
    • Support the Director of National Strategic Partnerships in maintaining relationships with National Advisory Board members, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination of engagement opportunities.
    • Collaborate on special projects as assigned. 
    • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as need and capacity dictate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • 1 year of relevant prior work experience: communications experience including advocacy or political campaign experience. Climate experience is a plus. 
    • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workplace. 
$56,000 - $66,696.90 a year
Compensation is based on experience.

$26.92 - $32.07 per hour, based upon experience
$56,000- $66,696.90 (annually)
