We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to build, lead, and scale our engineering team. You’ll be both a hands-on technical contributor and a team builder—responsible for setting engineering standards, mentoring teammates, and ensuring we deliver customer impact quickly and reliably.

As one of the first leaders at Clipbook, you’ll work directly with founders, customers, and engineers. You’ll shape our technical architecture, our culture, and our trajectory as we scale from a tight-knit early team into a world-class engineering org.

What You'll Do

    • Build and lead the team. Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing group of engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, speed, and rigor.
    • Set the technical direction. Make foundational architecture and infrastructure decisions across our stack (TypeScript, React, Python, Node, SQL/NoSQL, AWS/GCP).
    • Ship with urgency. Balance short-term customer needs with long-term scalability. Ensure we prioritize high-leverage work and avoid analysis paralysis.
    • Stay hands-on. While coaching and managing, still roll up your sleeves to debug, prototype, and ship when needed.
    • Drive reliability at scale. Lead the evolution of our cloud infra, pipelines, and CI/CD processes to support enterprise-grade customers.
    • Bridge customers and product. Work closely with Product and Customer Success to turn user pain points into technical solutions.

What We're Looking For

    • 5–8+ years in software engineering, with at least 2+ years managing engineers. You’ve led small-to-medium teams and can attract and grow talent.
    • Strong technical depth. Comfortable with modern web stacks, cloud infra, and data pipelines.
    • Proven player-coach. You can design systems, code when needed, and also elevate others.
    • Bias for action. You’re decisive and pragmatic in a fast-moving startup environment.
    • Culture builder. You know how to create a high-trust, high-velocity team culture.
    • Customer orientation. You can translate customer needs into technical priorities and trade-offs.

Bonus Points

    • Experience with AI/ML in production (LLMs, RAG, RLHF pipelines)
    • Experience building ingestion and search systems across multimodal data (text, audio, video)
    • Comfort with distributed systems, rate-limiting, and async workflows
    • Early-stage startup or technical founder experience

Why This Role is Career-Defining

    • Founding leadership seat. Be one of the very first managers, shaping the DNA of Clipbook’s engineering org.
    • Customer impact. Everything you ship and lead touches 200+ clients directly, from Fortune 500s to city governments.
    • Technical challenges. Solve the hardest problems in large-scale ingestion, semantic search, and AI-driven workflows across all media types.
    • Upside. Rare mix of pre-seed dilution, Series A metrics, and outsized equity potential.
