Cloaked is a privacy startup dedicated to rebuilding consumer trust in how personal data is used. Our vision is to create an internet that serves the needs of its users, first and foremost—with individual privacy and opt-in at the core. Our product is a virtual “cloak” that you use as you visit any website — Facebook, Amazon, etc. It lets you choose to share all, some, or none of your private information based on your personal preference.

About Cloaked

Cloaked is creating the first ever consumer based privacy eco-system that offers complete data ownership, without sacrificing user experience.

Cloaked gives you the ability to auto-generate an identity with a single click from our best in class password management solution. Users can generate masked emails, phone numbers, passwords, and soon credit cards.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Data Architect / Software Engineer to join our fast-growing privacy SaaS company. In this role, you will be a key leader in designing, building, maturing, and managing the data systems that power our platform for both direct consumers and corporate clients. You will be responsible for leading our data strategy, ensuring our data models and repositories are scalable and robust, and building the pipelines that enable secure and efficient data processing, management, and analytics.

What will you do?

-Design and implement a scalable data architecture that supports our diverse product lines, ensuring all data models are robust, efficient, and compliant with global privacy regulations in cooperation with our Compliance Committee.
-Build and maintain data abstraction layers and APIs to provide secure, controlled access to data for internal teams and our platform's features, ensuring data integrity and consistency… in line with our fundamental tenant of “zero knowledge” when it comes to our customer’s personal and personally identifiable information.
-Lead the engineering efforts for data management systems, including data ingestion, encryption, transformation, and storage. Implement solutions for data cleansing, quality assurance, and automated cradle-to-grave data lifecycle management.
-Develop and maintain the data pipelines and infrastructure required to support business intelligence, product analytics, and reporting for internal stakeholders; while working to advance our future vision where each user can choose whether (and how) to share their personal contextual information with online AI service.
-Along with our CEO, CTO, CAIO, CISO, and DPO, champion data privacy principles, ensuring that all data systems and processes are designed and built with security and privacy as fundamental, non-negotiable requirements.
-Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive best practices in data engineering and software development.

What skills and experiences will help you?

-Experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field, with significant experience in a SaaS environment.
-Expertise in designing and implementing complex data models and schemas (e.g., NoSQL, relational, data lakes).
-Proficiency with cloud-native data services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and a strong understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
-Advanced skills in a programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
-Background in building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses.
-Proven experience working with sensitive data, preferably in a privacy-focused or regulated industry.
-Experience with real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures.
-Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strong ability to think critically about complex data challenges.
-Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What do we like?

-Background in cybersecurity or information security.
-More than entry-level understanding of data privacy laws, regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27701, ISO 27017/18).
-Experience with data governance tools and platforms.
-Startup or growth-stage experience
-Interest in data and analytics to guide decision-making.
-Care and respect for our customers’ privacy as if it were your own.
