We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Product and Engineering Manger to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be leading a team in delivering innovative roadside and battery solutions. You will be responsible for aligning product strategy with technical execution, driving end to end delivery of digital and technology initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Reporting to: General Manager, Procurement & Supply Chain

- Understand our market and customer needs both now and into the future as the automotive sector evolves

- Build a knowledge base of battery and automotive insights and reference material

- Pro-actively seek to be at the forefront of technology advancements in our core products and share this knowledge across the business

- Through knowledge and behaviours, position Club Assist as the expert in batteries and related products

- Clearly communicate recommendations that are considered, informed and balanced to internal stakeholders

- Collaborate with peers to input to the product selection process

- Engage with external and internal customers technical queries, requests or product quality issues, more

importantly on problem resolution and product continuous improvement

- Oversee the support of our internal and external customers and assist them grow their business through product and technical education

- Manage and optimise contractors. Balance out workload for testing, inside and outside CA

- Cultivate robust quality assurance processes to test and validate the Club Assist product range of batteries and related technologies

- Work with external resources to ensure quality in design and performance of products to Club Assist specifications

- Perform timely and comprehensive investigation of technical product issues and failures, in close collaboration with our suppliers, customers and partners

- Manage Club Assist’s World Class Laboratory and Testing Facility and maintain procedures for correct and safe operations and use of equipment

- Champion a culture of safety in the Engineering team and in interactions with other stakeholders - Lead and prioritise research and improvement projects and activities in line with business strategy and operational needs

Product lifecycle management 

- Manage products through the entire product lifecycle including initiation or handover from the Product Development function

- Monitor product performance including failure and warranty rates and initiate projects to resolve

- Lead the research and development of product enhancements and product redesign in line with business strategy and operational needs

- Use foresight and insights of markets, customers and competitors to develop, document and communicate product roadmaps for the ongoing evolution of current product and services portfolio at Club Assist

- Expand the product portfolio to forge new growth avenues aligned with the business vision, CVP and strategy

- Ensure robust business cases are completed for each initiative

- Support sales initiatives with product selection and information to support high quality tenders

Database custodianship 

- Oversee the continuous development of the IP in the Club Assist Master Fitment Database (CAMFiD) and related systems to ensure they maintain Club Assist and AMS’s position as market leader

- Ensure the quality of the content, integrity and accuracy of the master fitment databases (CAMFiD) is maintained

- Manage the operation and continual improve the processes and systems for triaging, responding and reporting on fitment feedback

- 5+ years in hardware technical or engineering roles, preferably in the automotive industry

- Experience with automotive, lead-acid batteries and quality assurance beneficial

- Leadership experience would be an advantage

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
