The Role
CMG is seeking an API Sales Engineer that will be focused on discovering and supporting new API revenue generating opportunities.  As a quota-carrying contributor to our Sales team, you will fully understand our clients' data, workflow, and integration needs to ensure the value of CMG’s API offering is fully realized by our clients and monetized by sales. You will leverage your technical expertise to help acquire new API customers, support the build of new integrations, expand relationships, drive market share and revenue growth. You will also partner with Customer Success, Engineering, and Product to continue to support and meet the ever-changing needs of CMG’s clients.  
 
Your time will be split between identifying and qualifying new API opportunities and acting as the primary engineer for clients who are looking to integrate with CMG in a more customized manner. With a sales-oriented approach, you will cater your outreach and API demonstrations to address the client’s needs, while emphasizing CMG’s value proposition to generate new revenue opportunities. Throughout your interactions with prospects and clients, you will address their challenges and identify opportunities that will help shape the CMG product roadmap. The successful candidate will be keen to see their clients succeed, passionate to ensure CMG is an integral part of their workflow, and eager to drive new revenue opportunities. 

The API Sales Engineer will lead CMG’s client data strategy and integration initiatives as we expand our footprint within our customers’ investment workflow. The CMG API has been identified as a strategic solution with a substantial opportunity to capture significant revenue. You will take ownership of the expansion of our API solutions. 

What you will do:

    • Meet and exceed your quota(s) – which will consist of new API opportunities that you’re responsible for sourcing and API opportunities that you help Sales execute on 
    • Proactively prospect into the untapped areas of our client base to generate new API-related revenue opportunities  
    • Act as a consultative partner that creates a fit between CMG’s API capabilities and our clients.  
    • Drive the API product strategy by partnering with the Product Management team on customer requirements, sentiment and competitive trends 
    • Act as the technical liaison, collaborating with Customer Success, Product Management, and Engineering teams to develop tailored presentations, demos, prototypes, marketing materials, specific to API clients 
    • Identify and execute partner integration strategy to streamline customer implementations and scale API sales efforts 
    • Understand the technical architecture of CMG services, and closely collaborate with CMG Product and Engineering teams on product development

You have:

    • 5+ years solutions engineering / pre-sales experience  
    • Prior experience working for a Fintech or Investment Manager is strongly desired 
    • Proficiency in Python, Java, and C# (or other object-oriented programming languages) with the ability to develop quick prototypes for clients  
    • Strong relational database knowledge and an understanding of how client databases connect internally and externally with 3rd parties 
    • Prior experience working with leading OMS solutions is a plus 
    • Ability to influence both technical and business audiences 
    • Proven ability to successfully drive client outcomes and facilitate increased revenue with a commercial focus 
    • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, ability to manage multiple priorities and drive flawless execution in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional environment 
    • Exceptional presentation and demonstration skills, fluidly able to pivot presentations based on client need 
    • Advocacy for team selling, partnering with Sales to qualify opportunities and align key client stakeholders 
    • Passion for data and analytics, a philosophy of using technology to help solve business problems 
    • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills 
    • Masters/B.S. in Computer Science or Finance related studies

$150,000 - $200,000 a year
Compensation Information: 
The estimated annual base salary range for this role is US$150,000 – US$200,000 + commission.  The successful candidate’s salary will be determined by non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our benefits program including health, dental, vision, 401K, paid time off and our equity plan.
