DevOps Manager (AWS)
Do you bring great experience in DevOps and application deployment within AWS?
Are you skilled at containerization with tools like Docker and Kubernetes as well as deploying and maintaining serverless applications?
Are you experienced with automating CI/CD pipelines?
Are you a great mentor, manager, collaborator, and communicator?
You will join our Product Development team, focused on building Switchboard™ our cloud-based content management system. The team will work in an agile and incremental value delivery model. The product will focus on customer enablement and delivery by creating a product that enables localization, feature augmentation, support, and deployment at scale. You’ll be a key contributor on a co-located Product Development team out of a modern Chicago office in the West Loop. We enjoy a relaxed and friendly work atmosphere, where knowledge sharing is encouraged and consider engagement with the wider tech community key.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Contributing to a strong DevOps culture, with a focus on global collaboration
· Knowledge and understanding of agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
· A strong foundation of knowledge in AWS, Linux system and network administration, bash, python
· Mentoring and developing junior colleagues
· Work as an active participant of our team (including a rotation of about 1 week of on call each month)
· Daily Stand Ups
· Planning and estimation of tasks
· Code reviewing peers and junior colleague’s work
· Architecting scalable solutions for new cloud services and rearchitect existing infrastructure using the AWS Well-Architected framework
· An extensive background with containerization in Docker and Kubernetes as well as deploying and maintaining serverless applications
· Implementing tools to enable support and development teams
· Ensuring timely delivery of cloud configurations
· Maintain and monitor multiple cloud instances and configurations
· Executing an automation-first approach and reducing the accumulation of tech debt
· Effective monitoring and alerting to maintain service accessibility and performance SLAs
· Exploring efficiency improvements with a growing fleet of digital signage devices
· Interest in emerging technologies in the DevOps space
· A strong affinity for mentorship while managing and developing a motivated team
· Effective leadership skills, driving team stand ups and work prioritization
· Engaging with internal and external stakeholders
· Deploying and managing a variety of Amazon Web Services (AWS) services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS and VPC’s
· Automated CI/CD systems using tools such as Lambda, Docker, Bamboo and CloudFormation
· Develop and implement infrastructure documents, automated scripts and configuration profiles in conjunction with project teams
· Assist in the development and review of infrastructure architectures in the enterprise environment and for integration with outside sources
· Work with Agile teams; participate in planning and review meetings, and complete project deliverables
Skills and Qualifications
· 5 years previous enterprise engineering experience with 3 years’ experience working with AWS
· Experience deploying web application including but not limited to S3, EC2, Lambda, Dynamo, EFS, Cloud Front, Cloud Formation
· Experience using tooling and scripting languages such as Bash, Git, CloudFormation, JavaScript, Python
· Strong experience in Windows and Linux operating systems
· Experience working in an agile environment
· Experience in monitoring and dashboard tools like New Relic, AWS CloudWatch
· Knowledge about Software Development Cycle Life and it practices (CI, Git, Software stages, Dependencies, Deployments)
