Reporting to the CBO, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for finalising an internal communication and engagement framework in collaboration with the CBO, Chief of Staff and Chief People Officer and then overseeing and managing the day-to-day execution and optimisation of the plan. The Communications Specialist role will be ultimately responsible for driving improved connection, information sharing, visibility, alignment and engagement across our global Coates Crew through internal comms. The Communications Specialist will also be involved in additional Comms-related projects as well as some External Comms initiatives. 

Individual Accountabilities

    • Work in partnership with the CBO, CoS and CPO to finalise the creation of a new, holistic Internal Communication & Engagement Framework, ultimately having accountability for the strategic planning and execution of all internal comms and corresponding touchpoints across the business
    • This includes defining: a global communication and engagement calendar with clear categories for internal updates and engagement activities (including clear ownership), a medium for all comms, a cadence for all comms and channel direction for all comms
    • Write various types of comms, from both the company and various SLT member perspectives
    • Lead content “re-energization” to improve overall content (including messaging and visuals) to improve quality of internal comms content, including ownership of the monthly Crewsletter
    • Manage stakeholder relationships and establish clear processes for engaging with all stakeholders
    • Provide strategic guidance and oversight of all comms and engagement, always keeping the Brand Strategy top of mind and considered in all deliverables
    • Collaborating with other members of the Brand, Marketing and Comms team as needed to oversee and ensure the execution of all required deliverables (i.e. Content Creator, Designers, etc.)
    • Recommend and introduce tools, resources and processes that will contribute to the improvement of our internal communication and engagement
    • Drive internal comms related activities to support Equality +Empowerment initiatives
    • Maintain relentless focus on the goal of improving connection, information sharing, visibility, alignment and engagement amongst the global Coates Crew
    • Act a Project Manager for the End of Year and Financial Year presentations and video productions, creating the strategic approach and plan based on company goals
    • Creation of a Coates language and copy library that can be used for both internal and external purposes to create consistency and accuracy of our written comms in portraying the Coates brand
    • Assisting in other Marketing initiatives that require strong written communication skills
    • Collaboration on some special projects may be required

Shared Accountabilities

    • Internal Stakeholders - Work with identified stakeholders in each of the Business Units to source information and content to be shared across the business
    • CoS - Partner with the Chief of Staff to keep the Coates Crew updated on company strategy, progress against KPIs and Senior Leadership Team updates
    • Wider Brand & Marketing Team - Partner with Content Creator and Design team to execute the deliverables needed as part of the Internal Comms + Engagement Framework. Partner with the Digital Marketing Specialist to identify comms that can be leveraged for external purposes. Partner with Marketing Managers as needed for information required for updates.
