Cogent is seeking a dedicated Research Animal Technician to join our team for weekend and holiday shifts. In this role, you will be responsible for administering scheduled doses of medications to research animals. You will also perform routine cleaning and maintenance of animal enclosures to uphold high standards of animal care and facility hygiene.
The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory animal care, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following established protocols. This position is crucial for supporting ongoing research projects and maintaining the well-being of our animals.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring and care for animals
- Administering oral and IP test article to mice and rats
- Handling and restraint of animals
- Cage washing and prep
- Quarterly facility cleanings
Schedule:
- Saturday and/or Sunday shifts, Holidays
- AM Shifts - Start dosing between 6 am and 7 am. Health check all animals in the facility. Make sure there is adequate water and food provided. Change any flooded cages.
- PM Shifts – Start dosing between 5 pm and 6 pm.
Requirements:
- Lab animal care: 1 year
- Must be able to proficiently dose both mice and rats (Oral gavage and IP)
$30 - $30 an hour
Includes 4 hr minimum pay on weekends and holidays.
