Cogent is seeking a seasoned, dynamic commercial leader with extensive oncology experience to grow and lead the company’s Commercial Excellence organization. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this new role, VP of Commercial Excellence, will support the success of Cogent’s portfolio through operational excellence and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position plays a pivotal role in driving bezuclastinib to the commercial stage by providing operational leadership in four key areas. The first is launch excellence: building the platform capabilities, metrics and reporting to assess launch readiness and flawless launches of all pipeline products. The second is marketing excellence: support the marketing organization by building data driven epidemiological forecasts and data to support their marketing plans. The third is sales excellence: ensuring that the salesforce has the tools, training, data, insights and targets to accelerate customer engagement and product demand. The fourth is commercial operations: oversee the operating plan and long range forecast process for all products across the enterprise. The role will collaborate with other stakeholders across the organization (e.g., Marketing, Pricing and Market Access, Market Development, and Sales) to ensure best practices, alignment and execution of priorities and processes.

This position will work out of either Waltham, Massachusetts or the Boulder, Colorado office.

What You Will Do

    • Lead all aspects of data insight gathering and management for the portfolio including market research, data management, forecasting, analysis, KPIs for field and marketing readiness, launch excellence, advanced analytics, and reporting.
    • Drive marketing analytics and digital platform activity, including market sizing, patient journey mapping and customer segmentation and multi-channel tools for patient and customer engagement.
    • Generate insights through primary and secondary market research and partner with marketing to incorporate into the brand planning process.
    • Lead the sales analytics, salesforce sizing, sales training, customer targeting and tracking, incentive plan design and monitoring, segmentation that includes reporting, systems, and tools.
    • Establish cross-functional expectations for launch readiness before, during and after regulatory approval. Incorporate lifecycle driven process, training and milestones with key assumptions, KPIs and tracking/reporting along the launch cycle.
    • Responsible for all commercial operations support including communications, global forecast calculations and operating plan oversight
    • Lead team to understand all sources of real-time data to inform targeting and investments (ROI, multi-channel marketing, etc).
    • Perform complex financial calculations such as product forecasting, pro-forma product P&L modeling (including sensitivity analyses), probability adjusted net present value, internal rate of return, etc.
    • Build and maintain global forecast as well as monitoring/validating underlying assumptions.

What You Will Bring

    • BS/BA degree in business or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD).
    • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries including at least 5-7 years in commercial ops and analytics senior leadership roles.
    • Oncology and/or Rare Disease experience, including launch experience, is strongly preferred.
    • Experience building and optimizing teams and commercial capabilities is required.
    • Experience in and understanding of other commercial functions (e.g., marketing, market access, sales operations, sales training, insights/analytics, business development, etc.) will be an important consideration for this role.
