About the Position:
As a Network Engineer with Cologix you will be responsible for assisting in the engineering, design, and maintaining a large datacenter network.

What you do daily:

    • Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
    • Tier III support for network related problems
    • Respond to escalated network incidents and participate in on-call rotations for critical support.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support customer deployments and service delivery.
    • Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures for internal knowledge sharing and compliance.
    • Perform configuration changes, firmware upgrades, and capacity planning across primarily Juniper platforms.
    • Work from ticketing systems resolving Customers and Employees on resolving complex network issues as an escalated resource
    • Design, implement, and maintain data center network infrastructure using primarily Juniper routers and switches.
    • Provision and troubleshoot Layer 2 services (e.g., VLANs, VPLS, EVPN) and IP bandwidth services for enterprise and carrier customers.

What makes you a good fit: (Qualifications)

    • Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in data center or service provider networking
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills and a strong customer centric aptitude
    • Hands-on experience with Juniper Networks equipment (MX, QFX, EX series).
    • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols.
    • Strong analytical and effective problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
    • Manage assigned tasks and projects with little supervision.
    • Quick learner who can adapt to changing requirements
    • Proven experience working in a team-based environment
    • Self-starter with good time management skills
    • Must be punctual, reliable, flexible to meet the demands of the organization

    • Strong Understanding of the following technologies and platforms:
      Required:
    • Routers and switches: Juniper, Cisco, Brocade CLI
    • Strong understanding of Layer 2 protocols: VLAN, STP, LACP, VPLS, EVPN
    • Strong understanding of Layer 3 protocols: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP
    • Strong understanding and experience of Network monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, telemetry, syslog)
    • Ethernet and optical transport fundamentals
    • Network automation basics (e.g., Python, Ansible, or Juniper PyEZ)

    • Preferred Skills:
    • Optical Engineering
    • Virtualization: VMWare, Openstack, KVM, Puppet, Chef
    • Understanding of DDoS mitigation and traffic filtering
    • Juniper JNCIA Experience
    • Strong network automation experience
    • MPLS and traffic engineering

    • Preferred Certifications:
    • JNCIA – Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate
    • CCNA – Cisco Certified Network Associate
    • CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional

$90,000 - $110,000 a year

Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. This position will also be eligible for an annual bonus.
